Fantastic movie, but seems unnecessary.
Can't imagine what Scream Factory will bring to the table aside from a slipcover, and the original blu-ray already has a fantastic slipcover.
It's a regular part of my Halloween-day rotation, but I'm a bit skeptical. I think all the extras from the previous release were SD, included the extra scenes and animated short, so maybe those could be bumped to HD?
Not really a surprise as I'm pretty sure it was shot on film but finished as a 2K DI, like most films from the era. The previous release has a skimpy VC-1 encode, so there may be some potential for A/V improvement, but for the most part, it probably looks the way it's going to look.

Is The Cured any good? IFC midnight/ scream factory release!
New 4K transfers? I mean that’s amazing but what the fuck why couldn’t they have done this when they released the goddamn box set???
Those sets look amazing but to be completely honest, these reissues are pissing me off.
I'm a bit interested in maybe The Wasp Woman, but these last 4 announcements don't have me very excited. I've got perfectly good blu-rays of Trick r Treat (which I'm not even a big fan of), Halloween 2, and Halloween 3. I'm not very interested in extras at all outside of maybe special effects related stuff, and I'm not really obsessed enough with picture quality to upgrade based on new 4K scans. House on Haunted Hill is pretty good, but I don't think I'd pick it up, unless I find a cheap used copy at some point.
Hey, at least Scream For Help is coming!
I'm peeved with the Halloween titles as I have the box set. It would have been nice to have an option where I could just get the disc and add it to the set. I'm also surprised H2&3 are getting 4k transfers before the first. While the last release of the first film looks great, I think it needs some colour correcting as it looks way too green and not like autumn at all. I know they didn't film in autumn but I'm assuming they messed with the colour to make it seem like they did back when it came out.
Pre-ordered both steelbooks!
Shame they lost the sublicensing the rights to Phantasm II, because it could use a 4K remaster too.

Halloween 2 and 3 again.... I wonder if it's my age, but I'm getting tired of buying the same titles over and over. Maybe a 4k release would tempt but, even then, I'm not sure. The same goes for Trick 'r Treat.
I do agree with what most people are saying here, but I have to say the Halloween 2 artwork is awesome!
I don't know that it was ever actually confirmed whether the 35th Anniversary / box set release of the 1st film was sourced from a 2K scan or if it was the same 4K restoration that was screened theatrically in 2014.
Usually if they don't specify it means it's not a 4k transfer. It's a pretty big selling point to just gloss over and not mention. I'd be surprised if it is.
Will it include Just Desserts or do I have to hang on to my Synapse blu-ray?
To be honest, I hope they offer it without the booklet/poster/lithograph.
I'd be very surprised if that was included.
The poster and lithograph are exclusive to the Shout Factory store. The booklet seems to be a regular part of the package.
