My Creepshow CE just arrived yesterday. I've only watched about thirty minutes of it so far, but for someone whose most recent iteration of the film was the old Warner Bros. dvd in that old cardboard case...this is a real beauty. It's one of my top 10 favorites of all time (I'm actually surprised I never went region free for one of the prior CEs). From what I've seen so far this version makes the wait worth it...minor gripe is that Shout used a bubble mailer to ship and the hardbox received a small ding to the lower right corner...probably something only I notice and nothing to get bent out of shape about...PQ is gorgeous and I can't wait to dive into the extras...will have to purchase the Synapse doc then I'll feel like I have the definitive package (for now, anyway).

There are rumors (and I should emphasize rumors) over at the blu-ray.com forum from one of the H40 convention attendees that Scream Factory is working on Fade To Black. Irwin Yablans seems to be the one who spilled the beans.

    Again, these are rumors.

Here are some comparisons I made between Shout Factory's CEs and the new 4Ks.

    Halloween II:

    Halloween III:

There seems to be less detail in the new 4K scan of Halloween II which is kind of strange (but seems to be par for the course when it comes to Shout's new 4K scans). They claim on the back of the packaging that it's a 4K scan from the OCN, but there's no way they used the negative for Halloween II. Halloween III is a more solid upgrade, more info in the frame, it's not as dark and the fine detail is still there. Both of the old masters suffered from a bit of oversharpening, which is obvious in both comparisons. I just don't know what happened with the scan of Halloween II. It definitely looked good in motion on my 4K LED, but when you directly compare the transfers, there's something iffy about it. It shouldn't have THAT much less detail, and it's not from the oversharpening in the original release. There are details on the older scan that are just not there on the 4K of Halloween II.

Bit of a mixed bag, truly.

Oy vey. This has me concerned about Night Of The Demons, probably their only 4K remaster steelbook I'm upgrading (one of my favorite movies). At least it comes with the doll, I guess?

Yeah I sold off my previous collector's edition of Night of the Demons and I'm a bit worried.

What's strange about those Halloween steelbooks is that on the back, they're both claimed to have come from a 4K scan of the negative, but Halloween II looks less detailed (significantly so in some places) and Halloween III looks better than the previous release. Also, someone from Shout already said via fb that these were in fact 4K IP scans, so there's some misinformation (or deliberate lying) on behalf of Shout when the write up on the back of these steelbooks claims that they're 4K o-neg scans.

So did Halloween III come from an actual negative and Halloween II from an interpositive? Because this isn't making sense to me. The old scan of Halloween II is about 20 years old. How can an old telecine (that was also apparently from the negative) from 20 years ago look better than a modern 4K scan?

    This. Isn't. Making. Sense.

I am keeping my old NOTD blu but am getting the new one for the figure. Selling the 4k Steel book when I get the package. Don't need the fx to get ruined with too much detail. I see that wouldn't be an issue anyway. Lol

I might pick this up out of curiosity. It’s been more than a decade since I last saw it and it’s such a terrible movie I wonder if it’ll enjoy its humor more now. Also those features sound great.

Really really sucks that the best element they could find was a theatrical print. Couldn’t they just use the restored footage from the first film? I mean the second one is 2/3 made up of footage from the original. There’d be a jump in quality but at least most of it would look good. So this is gonna look like Hell Night? I’ll keep my expectations low regarding the A/V.

Picked up Night of the Demons Steel book today transfer looks great also I noticed it has the Linnea Quigley vintage interview that is on the Anchor bay dvd. I don't seem to recall that bonus feature on the original bluray I may be wrong though?

...and Shout Factory have yet to even ship out the SteelBook pre-order with the figure, again!

Seriously, you can now get most Shout Factory releases faster if you DON'T pre-order direct from them!

I’ve never ordered anything from Shout. Their shipping to Canada is absolutely fucking insane. I’m better off getting them from Amazon, and clearly that was the right choice because I got all my SF blus before the people who ordered directly from them. I’d be pissed too.
