Nice, I only have the Brazilian dvd from years back.
I got a shipping notification for Critters yesterday, but then that apology email came about 6 hours later.
I got the same thing yesterday. Shout's shipping practices make little sense...as they have the last couple of months.
It still is just showing as "Pre-Shipment" on the tracking though, so I hope it's not another one of those...
Lmao. Shout Factory is such a joke. What incentive does anybody have to order anything from them directly ever again? I’ve never ordered directly from them and after reading about delayed shipments, damaged packages, ripped and torn posters, I definitely won’t be ordering anything through them.
They botch enough of their releases, now they can’t even get their items shipped on time? Shout Factory is a complete fucking joke. Like it’s almost as if you have to put a concerted effort into being this much of a fuck up as a company.
Yeah just saw this. Maybe they should stop jumping the gun and announcing titles without confirmed release dates, then they wouldn’t have to keep apologizing for everything. I feel like 95% of their releases get announced, then delayed.
Criterion never does this. Or if it does happen, it’s super rare.
Just stop apologizing. Get it right the first time and stop fucking up and you wouldn’t have to constantly apologize and give $4 (lol) discounts to your customers.
Used to love Shout, now about everything they do pisses me off. I'm wanting their stuff, but their prices suck ass for what it is. Doesn't seem like they give a shit either.
Pricing and pretty much nothing else. They've implemented Minimum Advertised Pricing (MAP) on every retailer, but they seem to have exempted themselves. Their own discounts are poor to moderate (maybe 10 - 20%), but every other retailer is being forced to advertise most of their items at full MSRP. Combined with free US shipping over $50.00, they've given themselves a significant pricing advantage over other retailers.
I'm not sure that practice (specifically, the self-exemption) is entirely kosher with various state and federal antitrust laws, but a legal challenge is likely to be prohibitively expensive.
They don't have an agreement with other distributors to set their own discs at the same price, so there's not an antitrust law on the books for it. So long as they're offering to buy back unsold stock I don't think there's any legal recourse.
I wonder if Grindhouse Video could create a $5 coupon that effectively does the same? You have a "sale" that never end basically. For example DeepDiscount's coupons still work on Shout titles. So this might work: "Five dollars off 'select titles.' Just type SUCKIT in the code box to find out if your cart contains our 'mystery titles.' " It's not advertised. As he said, that's the loop hole that allows him to discount in person. If you're careful it could work.
Not only that, but The Street Fighter Collection has been delayed to March.
From Shout Select's Facebook:
"Unfortunately, we have to move the street date for The Street Fighter Collection back one month. Fortunately, it's because we are taking extra time with the new transfers on all three films.
New street date is 3/26/19. More news is on the horizon, but for now you can pre-order at: http://bit.ly/StreetFighterTrilogy."
This was already mentioned 7 posts up.
Gonna order Critters collection through my record store rather than direct from shout.
I don't blame you. There's not too much reason to order direct from them now due to all the headaches involved.
Okay, I guess my Critters did ship from Shout because I'm looking at it right now. I won't be able to watch them for a few days, but the set looks nice, the box is thicker like the Creepshow set. My lithographs are in pretty good shape, no major damage that I can see. Of course, I have no idea what I'm going to do with them, but I'm glad they aren't mangled.
I got mine in the mail from them earlier today also.
Some minor crimping on the Lithos in the rolled tube, but can be flattened out. I wish they'd just stop folding the edges of the rolls...because that is causing more damage than anything...or get some "plastic caps" for the ends like some places use.
