I just went through all my discs and am happy to say only one had a minor mark. Maybe I got lucky and had the item packaged before the employees ran out of gloves.
Nah, like 5 or 6 of them. Nothing crazy, but Part 8 and JGTH Theatrical had like a solid thumb print on each consisting of God knows what translucency. Wiped right off, but cmon man. I’m starting to think my poster imperfection was from someone fat fingering when they rolled it.
Truly a bizarre phenomena. Checked mine and no blemishes/scratches with the exception of part VII, which had a small fingerprint smudge. Not a big deal, but considering whats going on in the world...
Unless I have a problem or bought a used copy, I stopped looking at disc surfaces entirely. I just don't want to know. Out of sight, out of mind. There has rarely been a problem, and when there has been, it's always the usual culprits (Warner for DVD, LionsGate and Fox for blu-ray). There have been so many reports regarding this set though, I think y'all are gonna force me to look. Ugh... I think I'll wait until Scream announces what they're gonna do regarding replacement discs first. No point in stressing about imperfections on the 3D or Jason Goes To Hell Unrated discs if they're just gonna replace them anyway. Until then, I have a flawless set as far as I'm concerned.
Just watched the Friday part 2 deleted scenes. For me Scott's Death and Jeff & Sandra's death were the most fun and gory additions. And Alice's was not as I expected. But the rest are pathetic over reactions from the MPAA. Shame on those wankers.
And I said that as a joke. Seriously. What is it with Shout and these multi sets. Can they ever get it right? For the record I'm definitely keeping my Warner set. May be in the minority, but the collection presentation and tin is excellent. Thing of beauty imho.
I just think they kind of rushed it to get it out before Halloween. They could have waited one month more and released it on the far more appropriate November 13th (an actual Friday the 13th) — tested it out on some uber fans who knew their shit about the series and would have probably easily seen these errors and problems. If they would have done that before anything final was manufactured... they could have saved a lot of headaches. I'll probably be keeping my tin also. This is exactly why I held onto it instead of selling it right away and making a quick buck.
My set had a minor ding in the corner, just kind of looks like the intentional fake damage on the Creepshow set unless you're really looking. My part 2 disc had a couple of minor scratches and my Jason Goes to Hell theatrical disc has some fingerprints on it, although I'm probably never going to watch the theatrical version. I'm happy to have the set and am glad I've only got a couple of minor problems on the discs, but I kinda wish I would've gotten it somewhere a bit cheaper. People are getting it from Target's sale for way less than I paid. The posters are cool to have, but I still have my Critters posters in a tube behind my couch, so I don't know if I'll ever get around to doing anything with them.
More Caps-a-holic screenshot comparisons are up: Friday the 13th: A New Beginning Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday Jason X Jason X is quite an improvement. Now only if they fix the audio... I just used this form on their website: https://www.shoutfactory.com/contact and quoted my original order from them. Sorry, I missed your post somehow...
You can get the set without the posters for a little over $100 on Ebay. I picked up a second set from blowitoutahere.
Who are these fucking idiots, packing the boxsets? I’ve NEVER had any problems with scratches (unless it got damaged during the mail) or fingerprints/smudges on any discs bought new. Shout should show them how to properly pick up a disc and put it in the box. At least make them wear gloves. idiots! Glad I didn’t order the set. I’ll wait for future standalone releases.
You gonna want to stand up for this; Scream/Universal are brining Prince of Darkness to US 4K!!!! https://highdefdiscnews.com/2020/10/12/john-carpenters-prince-of-darkness-4k-in-january-2021/ And for anime fans, Lupin III: The First is coming to DVD/Blu-ray in January along with an exclusive steelbook! https://www.shoutfactory.com/product/lupin-iii-the-first?product_id=7519 https://www.shoutfactory.com/product/lupin-iii-the-first-limited-edition-steelbook?product_id=7520
Shout Factory had a huge party celebrating this release. They even filmed the party in retro VHS style! Cheers!
Any reason for not making new 4K transfers for Part 5-8? Or is it just an excuse to re-release another box, a few years from now, with ALL movies in 4K...
Not sure hopefully a knowledgeable shout factory employee will provide an update soon but, The answer is yes! Saw this posted online and..... lol! Update
