It looks like Edmond actually is getting a Blu-Ray release in July, but it's Filmrise, so it'll probably be a BD-R.

King of the Ants is probably tied up in the Alchemy, LLC bankruptcy. I don't expect that to get a Blu-Ray release anytime soon, if ever.

I would agree. Maybe they could do a "Trimark Pictures" line for some of the 90's stuff they have. Do they still have Dead Alive?

My understanding is that the rights have reverted back to Peter Jackson and Wingnut Films.

They've released Trimark (Warlock, Return Of The Living Dead 3) and Artisan (Wishmaster) titles under the Vestron banner. I assume they will continue to do so. They also released Trimark's Leprechaun series to blu-ray shortly before they started the Vestron line, sort of like a trial run. I have mine shelved with my Vestron blu-ray titles.

I think LionsGate has lost rights to a few titles that would have been great additions to the line, like Cutting Class, Alligator, and Prom Night IV (possibly Prom Night III as well). Late '90s/early '00s stuff that would have been fun too, like The Ugly, Flashback, The Pool, etc. Mike Mendez said they've got about a year left on The Convent, as he's planning to do a special edition once the rights expire.

I would say The Dentist / The Dentist 2 are a safe bet as both are available on blu-ray in Germany. Sundown: The Vampire In Retreat and The Wraith as well, as those are two of their few Special Edition DVDs that haven't joined the line yet.

One I'd personally love to see hit blu-ray is Evolver, but I'd imagine that's pretty far down their list.

Is he trying to bury his early work? I've heard that he has the rights to Bad Taste and Meet the Feebles as well. I remember reading about restorations being done (in Entertainment Weekly, I think), but then never hearing anything else. I think Bad Taste and the Wicker Man box are the last AB DVD sets I still have. It would be nice to be able to upgrade. I also wish they would put out a new Dead Alive blu because I hate seeing fans paying close to $100 for used copies of a barebones disc. If he licensed it out to Arrow or Shout they would treat those films like Lord of the Rings.

the fact a fullblown Blu-Ray set with all different cuts of Dead Alive/Braindead and loads of extra's hasn't yet materialized is one of the biggest mysteries in physical media land

I missed out on buying the Blu-ray of Dead Alive for $3 online about a year ago (went out of stock online at a used store as I was checking out) and that was one of the all-time worst moments of my collecting career. I don't think I've ever yelled "Nooo!" louder.

I really wish Peter Jackson would let someone would put this out, it would sell really well, but I don't think that dude is worried about money anymore.

I heard he was going to go back and do motion capture for the aliens in Bad Taste to make them more "organic".

Yeah I had a look and they don't have much. It's still nice that some of them have a UK release though.

Amazon is running some really sweet deals on some Vestron blu titles right now. Of course, it's pretty much just those that I already have: Waxwork double ($14.92), Slaughter High ($18.88), and Class of 1999 ($19.69).

Wow, that Dagon single disc is $39.99. Whoo, baby! I love the film and have been pining away for a BD, but damnation, that is a lot of cash for a single disc. I'll probably wait for a sale or price drop.

Yeah I canceled that and Beyond Re-Animator. Will happily wait until those are cheaper.

I'm not sure what happened to this release. Wynorski recorded a commentary for it apparently, but I can't find any info about it from any label. I guess it's been cancelled. I asked Jim and he hasn't a clue either. Shame.

Well that stinks. And like you said, you asked Jim direct too.
