Fun and chatty.
I really doubt these will be too "limited" as far as availability. But I would bet that the Slip covers that come with these now won't be available very long. Lionsgate Slip covers seem to have a very short lifespan in the retail market.
I'm glad they used a non-eco case with the Waxwork set. The eco-cases used with the first 2 releases makes the Slip covers far easier to get damaged in shipments.
Any one who has seen the Waxwork blu can they confirm if the running time is 100 mins? if it is any details on the new footage, much additional gore?
Is there any reason you don't just order online? I almost never buy movies in a brick and mortar store anymore.
It's 97:10, the same as the "unrated" VHS and double feature DVD.
Thanks for the info, that's really annoying, so the 100 min confirmation was just bullshit, wish I could cancel my order. Ow well I should have known better.
If you cancel your order you're missing out on a great release. Hey it's your decision but considering this so called gorier 100 minute version has never been released in any capacity I don't see the big deal outside of them lying to you I guess.
I prefer to give my money to local or regional stores that are still in business, rather than to some massive POS like Amazon.
It's a stacked release, that's for sure.
Is there really even a 100 minute version out there anywhere, or is it just because 100 minutes has been listed as the running time on some of the previous releases? I thought the only difference between the R-Rated cut and the Unrated cut was really only like 5-10 seconds if this is accurate: http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=2523
Here are some comparisons between the R-Rated and Unrated cuts, but it doesn't list the actual total times of either cut: http://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=1100
But even there the listed cuts only add up to like 10 seconds tops.
It's definitely only a 10 second difference.
Hickox mentions additional gore that was trimmed in the doc but that stuff has never been released so....yep.
Understandable but there's no stores around me that sell stuff like this. But I don't order from Amazon anymore.
Fuck them and their slow shitty shipping.
The unrated cut is not the uncut version, the unrated cut was put together as they thought it would get an R it did not, so they cut it down again and got an R print and the other became the unrated one and the uncut one disappeared. I really wanted the longer print and when they were quoting 100 mins I got excited. It was not out of the realms of possibility, hey we got my bloody valentine and from beyond uncut, so I was hopeful and the advertising cemented that for me. As for the blu ray release I hate part 2 and I have the UK DVD of part one which is the unrated cut and is in 16/9 so I paid a shit load for a documentary. It may be a great doc but I just can't get that excited.
I have nothing more to say other than
Waxwork II> your favorite movie
Yep. I am fortunate that I do have some. I guess if they all close, I will have to resort to online, but it will be through small independent sellers and not Amazon.
Man I used to LOVE Amazon with a passion. The fact that punish non-prime members made me stop buying from them.
I tend to do most of my horror shopping from Diabolik. Sometimes I pay more but I always get things fast and the owner is a pleasure to deal with.
Hell I'm getting Nightmare Sisters before the release date with them. I highly doubt I'd get it by Halloween if I went with Amazon.
I swear, as a kid, I saw a version of Waxwork with additional gore in the werewolf scene (when the head splits) and in the vampire scene in the basement. I have ZERO evidence to back this up, other than when I watched the Artisan DVD, I thought, "Wow, that seems cut." I, too, am disappointed if this really isn't the "uncut" version. But I could also be completely fucking wrong.
I also have some memories about more gore during the werewolf scene, but it could just be my memory that plays tricks on me. It has happened before.
I think I still might have an old Japanese Laserdisc rip on VHS, left in a box somewhere in storage.
Gonna see if I still have it.
That was the first version I saw of the movie. So let's see if there was more gore or not.
Please post the results! I'm very curious. This cut/uncut issue has been a subject here for a LONG time. Will try to dig up the old thread.
edit: yeah, here it is! All the way back to 2004.
It's your memory playing tricks on you..LOL. . I do that all the time. I will rewatch a film years later and what you remember is always different when you see it again years later. Then I'm like. "I don't remember that". Often times, it's not as impressive the second or third time around.
Nice interview with Chela Johnson, Lionsgate’s Vice-President of Marketing, on the Vestron Collectors Series:
