Regrettably, I have Immortalizer already when it was limited pressed. The other 2 films, though... count me in

I'm disappointed that Rush Week, as some people had suggested, wasn't part of the announcement.

Not that it's a good movie, it's not, I just wanted that performance by The Dickies in HD.

It's a footnote in the halfway subscription, but Pandemonium and Intrepidos Punks are due later in the year.

I'm confused by the buying options. Looks like (as of now) you don't have too many options. If you want for example, just Rad and Immortalizer, you can't. And if you want all three, you are forced to buy the 2 unknowns.

Also, I'm embarrassed to say. I don't own a 4K Blu player. But I'm going to by Rad. I have no choice if I want that in my collection. Guess I will eventually get a 4K player now.

P.S. - Just to be clear. If you buy the 2020 Halfway package. It does NOT include Rad, Immortaizer, Hearst, 2 unknowns. Correct? Or am I getting that wrong.

^ RAD is a combo pack, so it includes both 4K and blu-ray discs.

And the halfway package doesn't begin until June, so none of the May releases are included.

Oh it is? Guess I didn't read that properly for Rad. Thanks for the other info as well.

Hoping I get some of my VS orders this weekend. I purposely don't look at the USPS tracking, 'cuz I always end up disappointed. I'm also not updating my checklist till discs actually arrive. Will I still be a Matinee Idol after this weekend??

I'm seeing some positive buzz about Deadline, so I'm adding that to my want list.

Intrepidos Punks looks sweet! You could pretty much sign me up for the Mexican Horror/Exploitation package. :D

I'm guessing because it was a 80s cable staple that never made it to DVD. I've never seen it but I remember it being on a lot back then and I probably caught bits and pieces. The cast is a fascinating time capsule of the era - Lori Loughlin, Talia Shire, Ray Walston, Olympic gymnast Bart Conner, Marta Kober from Friday the 13th Part II, novelty actor H.B. Haggerty. The soundtrack is pure 80s heaven (or hell depending on your POV.)

It's not just a BMX sports film, it's literally a time capsule experience from the 80's which featured pro BMX racers and pro Freestylers in a dramatic movie fringed with comedy, a romance...and a race to the finish. Plus it was directed by the great Hal Needham.

If you didn't experience the film in the 80's... then I hate to say it but you just probably won't get quite the same experience out of it today. You'll probably enjoy it, but a lot of the subtleties of the movie won't translate quite as well to a modern younger audience. Is it corny in parts today? Like a lot of stuff from the 80's, probably so.

BMX and Freestyling were big in the 80's. My first bike was a Raleigh Rampar (about 1982). I then progressed to a Diamondback, and then to a Haro and finally to a custom GT Pro Freestyle Tour Team (all Chrome with 3-piece crank). I used to ride with a bunch of friends and we even created a club called "Endless Rotation" and would watch RAD literally every week or so. I did crash and burn on multiple occasions...and still have numerous bodily scars to prove it. Things like riding 20+ miles in all daylight hours was just something you did, even if it was just to get to a custom ramp. So yeah, I was always heavily into BMX and Freesyle in the 80's, and if you were particularly into that scene then RAD was pretty much like the cinematographic "bible" of that era. There were really no other films like it, and still really aren't to this day. As far as movies that I've seen the most times over and over again, RAD is still ranks easily in my top 5.

It also had a great 80's "pop" soundtrack, including:

The Soundtrack has never officially been released on CD, but I do own the Bootleg CD which was a nice silver pressed edition with bonus tracks not included on the original Vinyl/Tape editions.

And the popularity of the movie can be evidenced even on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/themovierad/

Also, the film has really been unavailable since it's original VHS/Laserdisc releases. It has been bootlegged through the roof over the years, but this is the first time it's really been restored and officially re-released in decades. So that is why it's such a big deal to a lot of people.

My package has been stuck in USPS limbo since 03/22/2020 and it seems like a lot of other orders have been experiencing similar issues.

I got Malabimba, plus the rest of my Valentine's Day porn yesterday.

I was going to watch one of them, but first I watched Dagon to honor Stu, then caught a little of Fulci's New Gladiators on TCM. 15 minutes of that was enough to put me right to sleep.

I watched Deadline last night. I can vaguely recall seeing it on VHS years and years ago, and it still holds up well. Even though it's apparently not from the negative and VS has a disclaimer before the film starts about some A/V damage, I didn't notice much of it and thought the transfer looked really nice. If it's just from a film print, they did a damn good job. I would have guessed it was at least sourced from an IP or something.

I skated a bit in the later 80's, but never really got that into it or bought an actual board myself. My cousin actually gave me my first skateboard in the early 80's...which was more like a banana board from the 70's. There was always kind of a rivalry between Skaters and Freestylers here though. Nothing violent, just mutual insults on the roads and parking lots when we ran into each other LOL

I do really like Gleaming the Cube though and would definitely buy it on Blu. I don't have a clue who owns the rights currently.

I believe Fox/Disney. It was airing pretty frequently on Fox Movie Channel a few years ago.

I watched Malabimba last night. I've been saying it wrong. For the last several weeks, I said my order consisted of "Malabimba and two porn titles". I should have said, "three porn titles".

It had promise. For a little bit, I thought it was gonna be an Exorcist rip-off, but with graphic sex scenes. Except they really drop the horror theme of the plot about 10 minutes in and just show sex scenes. Not that I'm against that, of course, I was just hoping for a little more horror in my porn. And to be honest, the sex scenes weren't all that good anyway.
