I found a Liquid Sky DVD at a used book store last year for a few dollars, never got around to watching it.

Liquid Sky, eh? Watched the trailer, which did nothing to rouse my interest. Happy for the fans, though, even if VS maybe oversold the "big reveal."

Speaking of arousal, I skimmed through A Woman's Torment. I'm not a prude, but it wasn't my cup of tea. It's that weird, rare blend of porno and horror, where the story grinds to a halt whenever something sexy happens. A "jerky" viewing experience, in more than one sense.

Wow, Liquid Sky ... that's an odd one. I have the old DVD, but it'll be nice to see it in a remastered condition.

I personally think most movies grind to a halt during any sex scenes in horror or any other genres. I'm all for naked people, I'm not offended or anything, but I find myself annoyed any time a sex scene starts up because it's just not a very interesting thing to watch in my opinion. I ordered the whole October package, but A Woman's Torment will probably be one I'll end up selling.

Exactly. We're not talking a sex scene like the one in, say, Don't Look Now, or even gratuitous nudity (which I'm cool with, male or female). It's simply porn, and while it doesn't offend me, it really kills the pace of the movie.

Agree. Horror/Porn is always an uneasy mix because the porn scenes are directed like porn and it doesn't work narratively.

Not easily offended or a prude but I like my horror without any hardcore.

Ha! That is THE scene everyone references when this movie is mentioned in conversation. It is where my mind goes to as well when it comes to Liquid Sky.

I know it will be 1000-2000 copies, but this movie should really only get 500 copies made/1 per customer imo.

Huge fan of liquid sky, but agree saying it was a "big reveal" was a bit of an oversell. Still day one purchase for me.

I have heard Rhythm Box in quite a few DJ mixes, and at one point someone even scored an underground hit with an electro remake. I know it is never gonna happen but daring to dream of a Paula Sheppard interview. To me in two films she deservedly became iconic for her portrayals of wild outsider females.

Go see these guys at the Archive in Bridgeport - they're having a 20% off sale on everything this weekend. Got myself a copy of the new Intruder release for $20. They have The Slayer in stock too.

Just watched the Witchtrap blu, What a great release, great picture and fantastic to see it finally uncut, the MPAA are a bunch of wankers as all the stuff removed was unnecessary, but it's great an uncut print managed to survive and it's great to see it and what a fun film, definitely worth the time of readers here. Cheers Vinegar Syndrome.

for the first time ever, i've done the pre-order of the whole package for October

personally, i would have liked to skip the Roberta Findlay double bill (i've already seen Prime Evil and thought it was very underwhelming) but Lurkers might be fun (I hope) and the other releases seem to be really cool (i'm most excited for Blood Beat)

I did the whole bundle as well. Wasn't sure about The Corpse Grinders and A Woman's Torment (love Findlay's horror efforts, but not into porn). But figured why not? Love supporting Vinegar Syndrome and with the Oct 24th Street date, it'll make for great Halloween viewing.

Plus, I got a decent chunk of change toward it by selling my Demon Wind VHS when they announced it.

Yeah, I did the full bundle also. I like Roberta Findlay's non-porn horror, so seeing as the Blu-ray has the option to view it with the porn excised from it, I'm interested in A Woman's Torment also. The price is good enough that you're basically almost getting it free anyway.

I also did the whole bundle. Six titles for $100.00 seemed the way to go. Honestly I'll have to consider getting the yearly deal when it comes up again as I think I spent the same amount anyway.

The yearly package is a good deal. I got the blu-only for $480, and that has gotten me a minimum of two blu-rays a month, plus you automatically get any special-editions with slip covers, as well as any surprise titles. If VS produces fewer discs than they projected for the year, you get a refund, and if they go over then the deal just got a bit sweeter as you paid nothing extra. I believe that VS has gone over was was projected so far for this year.

Any caveat depends upon your tolerance for titles that are outside of your general interests. I have a high tolerance and will give just about anything a shot. My shelf now has several movies that I might have avoided but am now happy to have (My Chauffeur, Malibu High for instance).
