Yay, VS payment for October Package Day!
My October package shipped today. I'm excited, of course, but it also means that I have just one more month left before the 2017 package is done.
There isn't an December package?
VS takes December off, so no releases are scheduled.
Went to The Archive today and picked up these two beauties...
Also, got some info regarding the upcoming Black Friday sale - it'll be in the Archive store as well and only includes VS titles - they said they might do like 5% off all the other third party titles. New titles, like the ones I picked up above will not be part of the sale - maybe a small discount, but not anywhere near 50% off.
Also, they let me guess on the new titles to be released on Black Friday. The hints they gave me were both were horror and one is from the 80's and one from the 90's. I was wrong with all my guesses, but I guessed The Prey, Blood Beach, Pledge Night, Iced and The Club. The Archive is awesome btw - if anyone is nearby or passing you should stop in and meet the guys.
My package came today. Can't wait to crack it open.
Dying to get my October bundle!
As for the '90s one, I'm thinking that might be something A-Pix like their Jack Frost release? I'm hoping for The Fear uncut, since the DVD is edited (they said one of the two has previously been released on DVD with a video transfer, which I'm pretty sure is true of a lot of A-Pix). Would also be happy with Little Witches or The Ice Cream Man.

My guesses for the 80's horror title are Home Sweet Home or Island of Blood(Whodunit?).
I thought about Home Sweet Home perhaps just in time for Thanksgiving.
I believe they said both were straight-to-video as well. I'm not as sure about what went theatrical in the '80s. Maybe something like Disconnected (same director as Psychos In Love), Honeymoon Horror or The Deadly Intruder? Not sure if either went theatrical. They've been teasing Movie House Massacre for a while now too.
I think something highly requested like The Prey, Home Sweet Home, or Blood Beach would get a regular release, not limited.
Yep, finding out exactly what might have squeaked out as a theatrical release in the early 80's is not easy. If the IMDb is correct, Honeymoon of Horror was DTV, but I am not sure about Home Sweet Home and Island of Blood, though I strongly suspect that neither ever saw the silver screen.
I would be surprised that they would let you know if your guesses were right. Black Friday is over a month away & they have been super tight lipped on the 2 titles.(except for the hints on facebook)
Also, one film (80's or 90's) is supposed to have "comedic" elements in it and the 80's direct to video is supposed to be early 80's. Both titles considered highly requested.
Would throw the The Surgeon (1995) in that list too.
I received the October bundle yesterday, and the Demon Wind and Blood Beat Slips both look amazing.
I got a chance to watch Demon Wind last night thus far, and the transfer was superb with a maxed out bit-rate. Nice grain/detail and colors. It's also cool that the original 4-track stereo audio is intact.
For someone who has never seen it, which cut of A Woman's Torment would you recommend watching? Supposedly the R-rated cut is longer than the X-rated?

Received the bundle too on Monday. That Blood Beat slip is really sweet. Kinda wish there were slips to the other two films in the package. They looked naked next to the other 3.
