someone may have mentioned this already, but some walmarts near me have copies of the universal legacy editions of classic horrors (you know, the green sets of Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, etc, with all their sequels - i can't remember exactly which ones, but they had a few). those are fantastic sets and they were only $9.00 which is an absolute steal. i paid around $35 a piece when they were first released i think. damn.

Yep no Happy Birthday to Me at my Wal-Mart by my house either. I have a few other Walmarts in town so I may pop into them at some point to see if they have it and for 5.00.

I know, I saw that and it made me mad. I paid 20 bucks for the 4th one when it came out. And double dipped on 1 and 2 for the directors cuts

$8.88, but in Canada. That was pretty much the same story two years ago, I got the Dracula, Wolf Man and Frankenstein sets for about the same price but the same deal wasn't going on in the US at the time and people on various boards and groups I post on were PISSED.

Ohio stores are getting packed with some good stuff like GoreHOuse Greats($5),many combo Blaxploitation titles($5),etc.etc. Only found a good selection in 2 stores out of the 5 or so I've been to.

I went to one today, it had Evil Dead special edition and Dawn of The Dead special edition for $20 each, Swamp Thing and House Of The Damned ('60s) for $6. They had Tales From The Crypt (1990) for $5, Black Christmas (1974), the 2006 edition for $10. The rest of the halloween "specials" on display were unimpressive, to say the least

Happy Birthday to Me was nowhere to be seen at all. Must be a USA exclusive.

I grabbed the Midnight Movie $10 Blu - it ate away at me for too long so I gave in. Seemed liked to good of a deal to pass up. Still no Happy BDay's to Me there.

I picked up the Ringu: Anthology of Terror, which rang up for just $3.87 or something on the receipt. I already had 3 of the 4 movies included, but this was cheap enough to get the 4th and will take up less shelf space.

So I picked up two of the Ringu sets, at $3 each, afterall. Went from Walmart straight to Bookman's (a Tucson staple for used entertainment trading) and gave 'em one, still shrinkwrapped, and got $9 in trade credit for it. Keeping the other to watch , then I'll trade it in too. Also got that "Gorehouse Greats" set from Mill Creek. Only watched Trip with the Teacher and Brain Twisters so far, and about the only good thing I can say about either is that the latter was in 16:9 widescreen. Otherwise they're a couple of dogs...but I figured as much so I smoked a bowl and had fun watching them anyway.

How many discs does that set have, or how many movies are compressed per disc? I saw it last night at Walmart, but I already owned several of the films on other previous sets from Rhino or BCI. The ones I didn't have (or hadn't previously seen) only vaguely interested me.

    12 films
    3 discs
    2 per side

The compression is, as I'm sure will surprise nobody at all, shit. The two I've seen anyway look like youtube in HQ mode. But I've had that instant streaming Netflix stuff on my Xbox 360 for a few months now, so I'm used to shitty, pixelated video.
