Its bothersome to store thousands of unsold DVDs in a warehouse. Its also bothersome to pay music royalties for thousands of unsold DVDs.

Those of you that have been sitting on the sidelines because of the color of the disc have been missing out on some fun films.

Only four titles announced thus far: Deathtrap, Gypsy, The Hudsucker Proxy and Fearless.

I'll pick up Fearless. I remember it being a pretty deep flick back in its day. The DVD was full frame only even though the laserdisc was widescreen.

Well, the vast majority of the Warner catalog is made up of stuff that Warner owns worldwide rights for, including most of the Archive titles, but of course there are exceptions, with probably THE GREEN SLIME being the most familiar example for us. It's those exceptions that screw everything up. What Warner really needs to do with the Archive webstore is go through every film offered to identify the ones they do and do not own the worldwide rights to, and then program the website so those titles they don't have world rights for can only be shipped to countries where their sale is okay. It would be total bitch work to do, though, so I imagine this would be a good summer project for some film school interns. :p

    HOLY SHIT!!!

Sure, I was hoping for something a little more lavish (I think the film certainly deserves more features), but I cannot wait to check this one out. I love that they have the original mono.

Oh, thank god...I thought someone was posting about another "Big Sale"! B&N's Criterion sale is usually next month, so I'm gonna lay low until then. Unless...

Yesterday, Bruce Timm stated the following regarding Batman: The Animated Series on blu-ray at Comic Con:

"A fan then asked if Warner Archive had any plans for the re-release or re-mastering of the boxsets of Batman: The Animated Series, but the answer was a quick “no plans at this time.”"

An Innocent Blood extended cut...from Warner's on Demand? I'm just confused...why would they put effort into presenting an extended cut, but then not even make it for sale as a standard release?

Regardless, I remember enjoying Innocent Blood when I saw it years ago, but I never picked up the dvd because it was full frame. I would definitely buy a widescreen Blu, extended or not.

Technically, Warner Archive blu-rays are pressed discs and available to order through most media retailers. It's pretty much identical to a standard blu-ray release from them, they just produce a lower quantity because they don't see the demand that some of their other titles would have.

Also, discs through Warner Archive tend to be on a BD-50 with super high bit-rates, which isn't always true of their mass produced catalog titles.

That's good news. I'll have to keep a lookout for a good price.
