Uh, isnt Alfred Hitchcock from England? I know he made many films in America, but that doesn't make him a "US director". If this was the case you could count Dario Argento for the one or two films he has made here in the US.

Personally i dont even consider him a horror director as so much a suspense film director. Thats the only reason i voted for Carpenter. Hitchcock is one of the best overall directors though

Carpenter is God and happy are those who come to his supper.

But where's Sam Raimi or Tobe Hooper...

I would have choose either of these over Hitch. I think Craven should get it for having redefined the genre in all of the last three decades. IE - Last House on the Left, Nightmare on Elm St, and Scream.

    Bad sequels notwithstanding [IMG]

I have respect for Hitch, but my personal favorite directors are Carpenter and Romero.
    So, where's H.G. Lewis? [IMG]

I am VERY glad to see that Carpenter is winning. He is my favorite director and he definitely got my vote. David Cronenberg is my second favorite director ever, but he is from Canada.

I've rephrased the question to "Favorite horror director of US films".

I wanted Hitchcock on there because his films were made and released in the US. Well, at least his big ones were.

I can only put so many names on the list, and I chose to put Romero over Raimi. But Raimi or anyone else is your favorite you can always choose 'OTHER'.
