Fuck Criterion collections. It's all about Millenium Editions!
They're way cheaper too.
I think Dawn of the Dead should be released under the Criterion Collection. That would be so sweet!
I liked Criterion's DVD of SISTERS, but was very disappointed with the extras, especially for the price! IMHO, Criterions are way too expensive and they don't have that many good titles, except for SISTERS.
i'd like to see Rope and the Invisible Maniac get the criterion treatment. Maybe one of them will come true...
Hitchcock and Freaks!
I'm longing for more Hitchcock movies to get the Criterion treatment! There are loads of Hitchcock movies that have not been released on DVD yet and thats pretty damn frustrating if you ask me! *I want them all!*
Freaks is a pretty solid Criterion movie allso if you ask me! Whos with me on this one? :glasses:
Yes, I too think Freaks deserves a Criterion release-- that would be AWESOME!!
A couple here:
Being John Malcovich
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Amityville Horror
Enter The Dragon
Lair Of The White Worm
Full Metal Jacket
--hey don't have that many good titles, except for SISTERS—
Well, I disagree. Criterion pride themselves on having a very diverse catalogue, so it is doubtful any one person will find an awful lot that instantly peeks their interest. Inside a lot of those films though, are masters.
Good titles? Sure – how about these:
The 39 Steps
Carnival of Souls
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Fiend without a Face
The Lady Vanishes
Life of Brian - Monty Python's
The Long Good Friday
Lord of the Flies
Man Bites Dog
The Most Dangerous Game
Sid & Nancy
The Third Man
I expect a lot of others they have are great too - I'm just not so familiar with them.
The only title I have seen from the list you provided is Diabolique, which was a very good film but not good enough to make me want to own it.
Dude, get Fiend Without a face - freaking wonderful film! I like the original Diabolique (US remake was merely ok). Carnival of Souls, nice disc (probably on my next order). The Blob for goodnes sakes...... oh it goes on, as you know, not knowing about a film doesn't make it bad. Criterion have a knack of grabbing the best, and usually making it better. There are plenty more films on their list that I left off because I don't know them, too.
Here are their upcoming titles :
Throne of Blood
Quai des Orfèvres
Coup de Grâce
by Brakhage—An Anthology
Hiroshima Mon Amour
Night and Fog
Ali: Fear Eats the Soul
I could see Criterion doing a killer job doing like the first two Godzilla films... I'd love to have a Criterion Gojira, that would be like owning the holy grail!
Yeah, Mcchrist, the Godzilla films would be awesome with a Criterion release!!!
For those who think some films may be too low-brow for Criterion: I heard a rumor (albeit a long time ago) that they were to release Equinox!!
Some I'd like Criterion to do-
Death Race 2000
Cool World (seriously!)
Mom and Dad Save the World (OK Now I'm kidding)
Well, Heathers already has a very stellar release via Anchor Bay, but still - it's very Criterion-worthy if you ask me.
Oh man... Equinox would be killer!
I actually heard about EQUINOX too. I've always wanted to see that flick.
Actually that almost happened but Toho backed out at the last minute it was supposed to be LDs of the original I Honda pics. Gojira, MZ and , GTTHM. And I've always heard that a couple of Gojira where done but had to be destroyed.
