Amazingly, when I looked at this forum I was amazed there are only two threads...blasphemy!

So, as I'm having a bit of a Hammer Dracula obsession as the moment and would love these on BD, I was wondering which of the "classic" Hammer's you would like to see in HD?

    well, all of them, obviously.

But, if I had to pick, I'm partial to the Frankenstein series, the Quatermass series, and bunch of the one-offs, like Curse of the Werewolf, Demons of the Mind, To The Devil a Daughter, and The Devil Rides Out.

But having any of Fisher's Hammer films would make me giddy.

Yep. Saturday mornings on TV it was Hammer on my local UHF station. On Sunday mornings it was Universal mosnters on TV. I'd like them both on Blu. Back to Hammer the old Anchor Bay and WB releases were pretty sweet.

I collected Hammer films for a long time, and then I came to realize that a lot of the non monster films aren't really that great. Give me all of the vampire films, all of the Frankensteins, all of the Quatermass, The Mummy, Curse of the Werewolf, Blade of the Ripper, Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde, Devil Rides Out, Plague of the Zombies, and The Gorgon, and I think that I would be more than 95% content.

Not me, not unless the titles are also sold individually so that I can buy them at my leisure. I'm not inclined to spend $100 on a box set. Never have before, never will.

The Dracula series as well as all the other vampire films would be my top pick. I have them all on DVD but would upgrade to blu. I currently have Vampire Circus and The Man Who Could Cheat Death on blu-ray.

May seem like odd choices but I have a soft spot for Lust For A Vampire, Evil of Frankenstein, Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, Dracula Has Risen From The Grave and Scars of Dracula.

All of their horror films for sure. Hammer's vivid color palette would really shine in HD. Blu-ray offers so much better color saturation than DVD that these films would look dramatically better if the transfers were handled with care.

Being a completist I'd love Frankenstein and Dracula box sets. Some films are obviously better than others. But I enjoy them all. Hopefully we get all the horror films as well as the Hammer House of Horror TV series.

I'd go for Curse of Frankenstein first, then Vampire Lovers and go from there.

It's possible that an uncut version of Dracula may be on the horizon. A print was found in Japan, and Hammer apparently is looking into it, but they may not be able to come to an arrangement on it.

    From DVD Drive-In:

Fangoria has just unveiled on their website that Synapse Films will be releasing the Hammer classic COUNTESS DRACULA as a Blu-ray/DVD combo release. According to Fango’s Michael Ginghold, “While attending the Fantasia festival in Montreal, Fango sat down with Don May Jr. of Synapse Films, who informed us of a few new horrific acquisitions for forthcoming Blu-ray/DVD release — including an addition to the company’s Hammer line. May confirmed that Synapse has picked up COUNTESS DRACULA (pictured), the 1971 erotic vampire opus directed by Peter Sasdy and starring the late Ingrid Pitt. ‘We just got the HD master from MGM,’ May tells Fango, adding that the COUNTESS release will follow TWINS OF EVIL, coming this November or December, and HANDS OF THE RIPPER, out mid-next year.”

    ALL OF THEM!

But if I had to choose a TOP 5 BD WISHLIST:
    1. Captain Kronos: Vampire Hunter
    2. The Devil Rides Out
    3. Horror of Dracula
    4. Plague of the Zombies
    5. Frankenstein Created Woman

It has been reported (I think by Bill Lustig?) that the Anchor Bay Hammer titles sold poorly (thus have never been re-issued), which is a shame. So at least 2 of these will probably never happen. Plus I doubt Paramount is in any rush to do anything with Kronos (my personal favorite Hammer title)....but I do have some hope that Warner may someday at least do the Dracula titles.

All of them. I want the Karnstein trilogy for me and the Prehistoric movies to torment my wife. Nothing clears a room faster than "The Viking Queen."

    Dracula A.D. 1972!!!

seriously, it's so goofy, i love it. and stephanie beacham is drool inducing. just imagine peter cushing leaning all over her in that see-through nightie in HD!

i'm happy with anything, though. if they wanna do the frankensteins? great. the mummy's? fine. or even their various B&W psycho rip offs, like Paranoiac.

the devil rides out would be pretty fantastic, though...

Paranoiac is out on Blu-ray and is the only Hammer blu-ray I don't own (I believe it is region free).

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Paranoiac-B...ef=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1312341003&sr=1-1

If Crescendo is ever to be released on blu-ray, I'm there day 1. :)

according to dvdbeaver its region b locked, which is a shame for me. i did know that it was released, although it hadn't occurred to me when i was writing that post. in any case, more like paranoiac would be nice. more hammer is good hammer, as far as i'm concerned.
