I know none of these titles were announced, but seeing how they released 1-3 on Blu-Ray to go along with the DVD Deluxe Editions, I would think they would eventually get the rest of the sequels in high def. Anyone has any idea why they haven't yet released parts 4-8 on Blu-Ray yet? It has almost been a year since the last F13th Blu-Ray release.

Who knows. I'm sure they'll eventully be released, but maybe the sales of the first three Blus weren't what they expected.

Probably waiting for the sequel to the remake to hit theatres. Remember, part 1 came out on blu-ray along with parts 1, 2 and 3 in SE DVDs when the remake hit theatres. Then the blu-rays of parts 2 and 3 and the SEs of parts 4, 5 and 6 came out when the remake came out on DVD/blu-ray. Then parts 7 and 8 came out in time for Halloween (can't totally explain why the blus didn't come out then) but I think it's safe to assume that they're coming out on blu-ray when the sequel hits theatres.

I have to agree with Matt on this. Kat might also have hit a nerve. I Already have deluxe editions for 4-8. Hopefully they add some more stuff or no double dip.

i heard a rumor that part 2 and 3 blu-rays came out because of the sales of part 1 on blu-ray and that parts 2 and 3 didn't sell so well on blu-ray that 4-8 is on hold for now not sure if that is true or not

i do know for a fact that 1-8 deluxe edition dvds really sold well though

Part 2 on Blu is a must. Not that Part 3 isn't, but anyone that just got Part 1 and not 2 is really missing out.

I can't wait to see how awesome Part 4 is gonna look.

I agree. As long as they box set both formats (assuming the other entries come out on blu).

Yeah they really need to put out a nice box set of all the deluxe editions. I rented the first one and thought it was awesome but I'm not gonna purchase until I can straight replace my 'Crystal Lake to Manhattan' set with another set of 1-8.

Oh and for christ's sake would it be impossible for Paramount and New Line to fucking collaborate just once and put together a definitive Friday set? Fans would love it and both companies would make bank for sure.

Really they just need up to Jason goes to Hell from New Line just so they can bookend the franchise before we got into silly spin-offs like space and vs Freddy.

If they do a box set I'd like to see some exclusives to the set. If I remember correctly, the first three Friday re-releases were put together by different people than the guys who did the 4-8 dvds. I read in an article that there may still be stuff in the vaults for 1-3.

At the very least, I hope they give us Blu-ray releases of 4-6. Jason Lives was the last really good Friday, although I do enjoy the 2009 remake and Freddy vs Jason to a certain extent.

Judge Smails summed up Paramount's stance on this one: "You'll get nothing and like it!"

I've been waiting for the (hopefully) inevitable box set as well.

I don't hate 6, but i'd rather watch 7 any day of the week!

and yeah, i should have been more specific...im waiting for a blu-ray box set. but i dont think it will completely replace the crystal lake to manhattan box, since virtually none of the supplements from that set were carried over. I'll be keeping that set.

Yaeh, you know, 7 has usually gotten a bum rap, but over the years it's slowly creeping up as one of my favorites in the series. That final showdown is an effects extravaganza, and the scene where Jason takes the axe to the bitch's head and then chucks her into the TV is certainly one of the most iconic moments in the series for me. Maybe part of that has to do with the fact the shot of Jason from that scene was used on the NES game box.

But as far as the Blu-rays go, I'm sure Paramount is just sitting on some hi-def masters waiting to put them out. Hell, Jason Takes Manhattan can already be seen in HD on XBOX Live (including the awesome teaser!), so it's only a matter of time.

I like that 6 and 7 seem to be the split between fans of the series these days. It seems like there's pretty much consensus on the rest of the films but you've got a well defined divide between Jason Lives fans and New Blood fans. It makes sense, both films are VERY different in a lot of ways but I've found myself entangled in this debate a dozen or so times with people at my work.

(I used to love 6 and hate 7 back when it first came out. These days I think I actually like 7 a lot more. Difference: I used to be a goofy teenager, now I like interesting stories :) )

The bitch getting the axe in the head and tossed into the TV is a prime example of when we cheer for Jason to kick ass - I love it. I also love the scene where the telekinesis chick brings Jason back to life, and he comes out of the lake all crazy looking with his back bones all exposed - with the sound and everything it's very dramatic :)

Let's hope we get a boxset in the next round. I have the three blu-ray's now and the others on Deluxe Edition DVD. I'm not bothered by the idea of upgrading parts 4, 5 and 7 to blu-ray so soon after buying the DVD's, but I'd feel stung if a boxset (with exclusive features) came out in less than 2 years later.

Oh, and the axe to the head is one of my favorite kills in the series.
