 I had to look that up to see what it was, that's hilarious! AS for Cobra, yes it's a cheesy film, but aren't most 80's action flicks? Especially the ones starring Stallone? It's no worse then Rambo 2 and 3, or Rocky 5, and they both got good sequels released in the last few years. It almost has a slasher feel to it with the main villain going around killing random people. That combined with Stallone being his most bad ass self and stopping in the middle of a gunfight to drink a beer. Classic 80s cheese in my opinion.

    Unbreakable 2

If Shyamalan hadn't gone so far out of his way to alienate anyone who ever defended him, short of releasing a film of himself raping puppies, I would have loved to see further adventures. However, now I fear that this would just be another Lucas-like destruction of a film I truly love.

Great thread. Really I can’t think of too many movies I would be that interested in having sequels for. The Thing was mentioned, and that’s a great film, but to me that story ended. I really wouldn’t want to see what happened next. It would be like 2010. Not necessary. Two pictures come instantly to mind though. Remo Williams: The Adventure Continues (come on, it has too!) and Escape from Earth. No chance in seeing these of course, but I’d be pretty jazzed if they went into production.

Shock Waves is an all time fav of mine. That would have been cool.

How about a "real" sequel to Escape from NY? Rather that that poor remake we ended up getting.

It would be great if they could start a new Destroyer series of movies. There are so many great books in the series. An endless possibility of plotlines would be available. I really liked The Thing comics that Dark Horse put out in the nineties. That was a great continuation of the story.

Bob Clarke actually had an idea for a follow up to BLACK CHRISTMAS concerning a madman escaping from an asylum on Halloween night and terrorizing a small town.He was going to call it HALLOWEEN.I wonder why no one ever thought to do that....

A few different scripts (some quite clever) were written for a third DR. PHIBES film, some as late as the mid 80's,but none ever got made.Vincent Price was keen to play the part again.

A sequel to the 80's APRIL FOOLS DAY was in the planning stage just a couple of years ago and several original cast members were eager to return but the remake/retread seems to have scotched the idea.

Even though "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Part 2" is entertaining as it turned out, I would have rather it followed the formula of the original, that is, lots of terror and suspense and little comedy. Apparently there were a lot of rumors floating around between 1974 and 1986 on what TCM 2 would be. One of the better rumors was the following; Tobe Hooper was writing a sequel in which Marilyn Burns plays Sally Hardesty again. She is released from an insane asylum and she travels to the area of the original massacre site with some friends. (None of her friends know what she's planning to do.) The group eventually "stumbles into a small backwoods town completely controlled by the clan." Get this! The Hitchhiker is still alive - half crushed! He is now tied to a tree and permanently attached to the tree! Wouldn't that have been cool?

Frankly, while I do prefer a sequel to a remake (especially these days), most sequels do suck and I kind of love the whole open-ended final scene when there isn't another movie coming behind it because it allows you to imagine something more horrifying than any studio ever came up with.

    However...

Yeah, that would have been WONDERFUL. If they didn't fuck it up. But I do love TCM2 very much and am grateful for it--this idea could/should have replaced LEATHERFACE, frankly.

NONE!! I would like for Hollywood to get off of it's lazy ass and actually come up with a creative new storyline, instead of remaking classic horror films that can never be topped.

Wasn't Bob Clark working on a remake of Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things when he died? I thought I remember reading that.

Ah, that's interesting. I was thinkig about sequels that could be made after whatever the last picture in the series was. Thinking like this though, I wish they had made a sequel to Halloween III that followed the idea of having unrelated stories told each holliday. That would have been nice.

I enjoyed H3 better than H2. I also liked the idea of a new completely original Halloween story for each new release. I never thought they made another good Michael Myers story after part 1 personally.
