I collect across the board but I like obscure titles that used to only be available as bootlegs. I've got about 1900 DVD's now and recently started buying blu-rays (only 19 so far).
no rhyme or reason , i just buy whatever appeals to me then and there, and classics and such have movies I don't care for but feel I should have and so on and so on
Last House isn't the same as all those other movies. So, you can tell me what people call this, that, and the other thing all you want to. It doesn't change a fact.
Whether you like it or not, LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT is officially part of a sub genre known as "rape/revenge". If that irritates you, then that only gives me intense satisfaction. (btw, There is nothing in the label "rape/revenge" that says that the "revenge" aspect has to stem from the "rape" aspect, only that the film must deal with both a) rape, and b) revenge.)
My collection most fits "Other", because it actually is a combination of all of the above. I want it to be a true library, containing all types of horror films and all sub-genres.
I voted no rhyme or reason, because that's the way my collection really is. There's a lot of so-called "classics" that I don't have and don't really want. However, my number one goal as of today is to successfully upgrade my collection to Bluray some day
Mine's kind of a combo of the first, second and second-to-last options. I want lots of horror films to represent a broad spectrum that the genre encompasses, but I also want them to be titles I genuinely want to see. But, mostly, my collection seems to have no real rhyme or reason. I buy what looks good regardless of how it's categorized.
Very rarely buy movies I have a nice collection on VHS tapes. Occasionally I will buy a flick though but that's very rare. I'd rather pay off my house then blow $10,000 buying movies while living in moms basement.
It's interesting that someone revived this post. I now have over 340 blu-ray titles but only a little over 2000 DVD's. Looks like I'm spending too much money on movies.
My first thought was a Prom Night Japanese one sheet, until I saw the poll that is. I made that mistake with VHS, I've been much more careful in my purchase of DVD and BD. There'll be a new format sooner or later, just as we think this one's established.
