Just watched Silent Rage for the first time and really enjoyed it. Anyone have a link to what the cover of the older 16/9 release looks like?

Lower down within the amazon listings it states.

Format: Closed-captioned, Color, Dubbed, DVD, Full Screen, Subtitled, Widescreen, NTSC. Does it have both on the current dvd?

Thanks again Katatonia. That looks the exact same as the one they sell on amazon. Is that one only full screen, despite the description?

Most likely so. The original flipper disc which had both the Widescreen & Fullscreen versions of the movie has been OOP for more than a few years now. It's one of the many titles that Sony silently re-released as a Fullscreen-only disc.

I think the only real difference between the covers is that the original lists "Anamorphic Video" and "Widescreen and Fullscreen Presentations" on the back cover. And near the very bottom it also says "Side A is..."

And you can't leave out Raw Force with Cameron Mitchell. Monks who exchange jade in return for captured women living on an island commanding the zombies of ninjas who died in disgrace out in the Phillipines vs. a pirated boat of vacationing martial artists/swingin' singles. Must be seen to be believed!

I have the old 16/9 version of SILENT RAGE,bought it new about four years ago for $4.00.I'm genuinely fond of it,it's a crazy combo of karate ass kicker/slasher film, perfect drive-in fare.I loved the tagline too,"Science Created Him,Now Chuck Norris Must Destroy Him !"Guess Chuck was your go to guy for any number of problems back in the 80's.

I also saw Silent Rage for the first time this year. Strange film. It's almost as if the makers wanted to do an unauthorized origin story for Michael Myers.

    I liked it.

Well, I've heard enough! Just ordered "Silent Rage" from Amazon because of this thread. Bundled it with "The Octagon" and "Death Wish 3." Bronson and Norris together at last!

When you get it please verify that it doesn't included the widescreen version.

They did a similar thing with the Idle Hands DVD. The one currently in print, or sold from most retailers, is the full-screen only version. The only way to tell the difference besides it noting on the back cover is the hand on the front cover looks like a normal hand for the widescreen/full screen version and on the full screen only version it's a possessed-looking hand.

Yeah, Sony has done this with a lot of films: Screamers, The Toy, Mackenna's Gold, The Odessa File, etc..
