I get mine from Hong Kong - www.dddhouse.com

They are only legit releases though, not the pirate ones of hard to get stuff.

I've also bought from 3Sok on ebay - anime though.

Probably doesn't help you at all, but I go to some video stores in the area of my town heavily populated by Asians.

All of the above, especially hkflix.

I also find good deals at Ebay stores quite a bit on region 3 NTSC discs; in fact, most of my Asian titles come from stateside outlets on Ebay. Just picked up four titles, average $9.99 each, $3.50 shipping for the whole lot: not bad. Quality has been consistently great or good, although I always check reviews first.

DDDHouse is one of the best places for Hong Kong DVDs with great prices and great service and shipping speeds. DVDShelf is similar to DDDHouse but even cheaper (they also stock more), the shipping costs are high for smaller orders but it works out cheaper with larger ones.

For European customers the "Global" part of YesAsia is a good option, especially for UK customers as they ship inside the UK (no customs worries). They have HK and some Japanese DVDs as well as music, books, comics, etc. A bit more expensive than the others but with the current offers (free shipping to the UK if you spend so much, etc) they're a good one to use. They also have a lot of Korean DVDs at good prices.

CDJapan is great for Japanese DVDs and CDs but they can be more expensive than at HMV and Amazon (they do have better shipping rates though) plus sometimes CDJapan will list something as being out of print when in reality they aren't.

I agree 100% - DVDSHELF is GREAT! Great service, FAST shipping (3 days MAX to anywhere in the U.S. - and that includes passing customs in Alaska!) I have ordered from them for YEARS! but you should pool your orders together with some friends to get the shipping cost to even out.

I like CDJapan's selection and good packing, but they price gouge too much. they over-charge you on shipping by telling you that your package weighs more than it actually does (I have the post office weigh the box when it comes in and then I compare with what I paid from their shipping-weight price chart, and it is ALWAYS bumped up to the next weigh price than is should be) and when I called them on it, they wouldn't refund me. PLUS they charge a 5% HANDLING CHARGE which is calculated by taking your item(s) total PLUS shipping, and then adding 5% onto that! I know what they are doing... they are charging you for using your credit card, but since it is ILLEGAL to do that (or to at least state that that is what you are doing) they call it "HANDLING."

I never ordered from JP-HMV... do they allow U.S. sales?

  13. I'm pretty sure they do and I believe they use Fedex for shipping, they don't offer air mail yet so it's your only option for exports. If you go to the site you'll be able to find more information under the 'Help' section.

Amazon.co.jp is starting to make ordering easier for us English speaking people and they also offer Economy Shipping and Express Shipping as well.

    Chinatown in Boston.

  15. It must be nice to have a Chinatown nearby that sells DVDs (even if they are more expensive than direct from Hong Kong). The nearest Chinatown to me is Manchester I think and I don't believe they have a DVD shop there.

How much are they direct from Hong Kong? VCDs in Chinatown are usually $5 and DVDs are $10, including tax. They seem pretty dirt cheap to me. :)

  17. Well that is surprisingly quite cheap, normally direct from HK VCDs will cost you $4 or $5 and DVDs will cost you $6 or $7 but then there's shipping on top of it...

I buy American releases online from the usual suspects.

I get my imports from Poker Industries, either by mail or in person (I live about an hour and a half away).

I don't get a lot of Asian stuff, but they've always been reliable.

I've used Poker Industries a couple times in the past and I am more than satisfied! I even purchased a DVD via money order (they were easily 6 or 7 states away) and I had received my DVD in 4 days. rock!
