I was shocked to not find a thread dedicated to this flick on here, but I've been thinking about getting it. The VCI disc is non-anamorphic and I was wondering if there'd ever been rumblings about a re-release?

Thanks to DDD's stupid shipping rates, I have to cut one title off so my shipping charge isn't $100 and I was gonna cut this one down if there had ever been any indications towards an anamorphic release.

Great and atomspheric movie. Lee and Bava are an unbeatable combination.

The german disc is the one to go for. The best A/V with some great extras.

It's one of the few Bava's I still have to pick up.
And yes,the German DVD is the way to go.If you're region free ofcourse.
It can easily be bought at Amazon.de (will cost you about $13 ex.P&P).

Yeah, I probably should go region free. I'm worried about player upscaling, of all the DVD players I have, only one was any good.

I would hold off for just a bit. VCI has had the rights to this for way to long now, and I would suspect that a NTSC upgrade will come soon. However, if you need or want it asap and have region free, go with the German disk, otherwise the VCI will do the job for now. After all, just how often are you going to watch the film? I revisit it roughly every 6 months myself.;)

Yeah I'm still hoping Anchor Bay will get the rights and do a Bava Vol. 3 with this, Blood and Black Lace and Hatchet for the Honeymoon.

Basically I'm waiting for a release with the German image (= Anamorphic) quality and English subs for the It. audio. The EMS release only has German subs with the It. track. But if I can get it cheap enough,I'll buy it before that ;)

There's a new release from Italy:
    http://www.kultvideo.com/scheda.asp?item=20489&type=DVD&key=2
Anyone know more about it?Judging by the specs it's the same as the German release (at least A/V wise)

Any sign of a NTSC rerelease yet?

Yeah, I know. But apparently it's a bootleg company, so I'm waiting for the real thing.

Looks like there are two e-m-s releases of this movie, I have this one on the way to me now. I'm assuming this one is an older version of the one on Amazon.de as it doesn't have the original language. Kinda wish I'd paid attention when buying this one... Oh well, at least it's anamorphic...

If you understand German, the Italian language is a plus, otherwise the Italian track would be useless.
Although I do understand German,I'd really prefer English (or Dutch, obviously) subs.

Well, English is the only language I speak but when it comes to movies I really hate when I don't get to see them in the original language with subtitles, of course. The one you linked to has English, German, and Italian subs with German and Italian audio tracks while mine only has English and German audio with German subs. Wish I had the other one.

Finished watching this a little while ago. I found that the DVD did in fact have Italian language despite not being mentioned on the packaging however it did not have English subtitles. Got my hopes up when I turned on Italian language and what I assumed would be English subtitles but there were no English subtitles. (It didn't claim to have English subtitles but I figured I was in luck since the Italian track was also not mentioned.) Oh well, at least the movie was decent.

AFAIK Amazon's listing is wrong. There's indeed Italian audio, but only German subs.

    According to this review:
    http://www.dvd-forum.at/3678/dvd_review_detail.htm
the Italian track isn't mentioned on the cover:
So you have the same release but with a different cover.

Ah, good to know I'm not missing out on a slightly upgraded version of the same release! Thanks.

I have to really be in the mood for this one. When it comes to Bava, I like Black Sunday, Black Sabbath, Blood and Black Lace, Shock, Baron Blood, and Rabid Dogs a LOT better than this one.

Just doing some research on Midnight Choir. Where did you get the info. that they are "bootleg" Crystal? I am really interested in LONG HAIR OF DEATH with Steele that they are releasing. Thanks in advance for any info.
