argentos sleepless is an enjoyable return to his black glove killer slasher films. does anyone know if blue underground or anchor bay is planning to rerelease this gem in widescreen?

It´s already released on an excellent disc from the Italian distributor Medusa. Widescreen, uncut and with english and Italian audio and optional English subs.

I think he means for a Region 1 release... as far as I know, there are no plans.

Yep, i did suspect that he ment a R 1 release. But it´s maybe time to think about getting a reg-free player! A whole new world opens before your eyes!

My Cyberhome is a PIECE OF SHIT. When I put MGM dvds in it, the first and middle chapters automatically skip forward... I returned the damn thing three times and all three machines had the same problem.

The R1 disc is a piece of shit, then again it was released by Artisan...

I recall getting the R2 2-disc DVD of Sleepless a while back on ebay for a whopping $7. I picked up quite a few R2 titles from a guy who was oddly selling them with buy-it-now options, dirt cheap.

The transfer on that disc is 16x9 widescreen, uncut and looks great. It doesn't include the Italian audio which is a bit disappointing, but I enjoy it well enough in English ...and von Sydow acting in English and then being dubbed over, eh I don't know.

I don't remember really, it was more than a year ago and I go through tons ebay transactions during that time period. I think I bought the Witchfinder General import for like $3 from the seller also, but that's all I remember.

I have three region free players. A Pioneer, Cyberhome, and a Harmon Kardon. By far, the Cyberhome is the worst. I know price is a consdieration for some, but once you get to compare it with a better player, you'll see the difference in color balance, smoothness, and pictre stability.

Still, it's better than being stuck in a region. Frankly, I can't even remember what that is like :D
