This Aussie effort is getting quite the early buzz! The plot synopsis from the official site :

"Based on true events, 'Wolf Creek' tells the chilling story of three backpackers travelling in remote Outback Australia. When their vehicle breaks down they accept help from a friendly local.

It soon dawns on them that he has no intention of fixing their vehicle, or of them leaving... ever again."

There's very little available at the official sites yet. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters this November. :)

Sounds like a film to keep an eye out for. I just hope Dimension releases it sometime this century.

Hopefully the Toronto Film Fest will pick it up for their Midnight Madness screenings.

sounds very promising. very lovely and gruesome. we need more mean-spirited movies.

though if they're backpackers, why do they have a car?

A friend saw this at Cannes - said it was quite violent. Always welcome :)

I thought the Weinsteins took this film with them when they split with Disney? Either way, I've been looking forward to this one for awhile. I believe there was talk of releasing it as a NC-17 at one point.

wow sounds pretty sweet from that review. devil's rejects rekindled my love for these kinds of movies, so i'll be there opening night for sure.

So did the Weinsteins make another company or what? I never followed up on that whole thing. I thought I read something about them and Lions Gate but I'm not sure. Anyway, this looks like it could be really great.

Saw this today and it's pretty good, has that "80's slasher" kinda look which is always a good thing. Good acting + decent script, nicely shot and lit, not that much explicit violence/gore but what there is is quite well done. Overall 4/5 and I'll probably pick up the DVD when it comes out. Go see it!

Sounds decent. I'll have to see some previews before I can commit though. I hope this isn't another Cry Wolf where people hype it up and say its so great, then you see a trailer and realize its more derivative teenie crap.

Box Office Mojo says this film will be released to theaters on January 6th. While I was looking forward to seeing it this Fall, this new release date will make for one hell of a weekend, as Hostel opens on the 6th as well.

Bloodrayne is also getting released on the 6th of Jan as of right now. I am sure 2 of the three horror films opening that weekend will be moved. Out of all three I am intersted in seeing...all three. So they better move 2 of these movies out of that Jan 6 slot or I'm gonna have to say "fuck you Bloodrayne until next week"...and I really dont want to do that because I am a huge Boll fan so long as his movies still suck.
