For the fans this is awesome news.

I can't count myself as a fan though. I thought it was boring as hell tbh.

Loved this film since I was a kid. Gregory Hines was great in this.
Already have this on a four film collection along with Coma, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Bad Moon Rising. That's enough for me, no need to upgrade.

Really liked the book, the movie was a massive let down in tossing out almost everything good except the killer wolves in the city idea. Especially out in left field was the whole environmentalist message crap. The wolfen in the book wouldn't have given a shit about urban blight and deforestation - if long pig was plentiful on the menu one hunting ground was as good as another.

I'd get it if it were like $10, but certainly not $22.

I'll be interested to read some reviews, although I'm not sure I'll upgrade from DVD for a barebones release.

Maybe if it's included in one of their sales down the line. $15 bucks would be about my limit.

They have included blurays in some of their 5 for $50 sales in the past.

Anybody buy a Warner Archive Collection Blu-ray before? How's the quality?

One of many horror movies that my mother took me and my brother to see when originally released. I own the DVD. I was wondering also what the picture quality is on a Blu-Ray

I still need to watch my copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray. That's the only one I've purchased thus far.

I think they usually get fairly high marks for both Audio and Video by the various review sites. Unlike their MOD program for DVDs, Warner Archives Blu-Rays are supposed to be actual pressed discs, not BD-R. It's still technically an MOD program, but rather than manufacturing on a disc by disc basis, they produce a relatively small quantity at a time and then repress as stock diminishes.

    Edit:

It looks like Warner Archives updated the specs.

summer of 81, I remember the ads for it. seen 2 years later on cable. thought it was a tad slow. it had that predator point of view thing going. I did hear a lot about the book being better..

Yeah, I saw that, and should have DVR'd it 'cause I don't see it listed again in the next couple of weeks. Maybe a HD viewing will make me decide if I want to upgrade the current version I have.

About the same quality as their normal release Blu-rays, unless they've changed. They are factory pressed discs, and really the only difference is that it says "Archive Collection" on it.

In that case, I will pick this up. Great film and great acting. Love the grittiness of this film.

Always loved this one. The book is a weird, worthwhile read as well.
