tHE STEPFORD WIVES remake was so bad I essentially stopped seeing ALL remakes after it for a long time.I still see VERY few.

Would we really consider THE RING 2 to be a "remake" ? It's NOT a remake of the second RINGU film,it's just a (bad) sequel to the American THE RING which IS a remake.

Without question Prom Night is the worst on the list, only The Fog can even compare for that level of shittacularness. I give PN half a point for the "hat of invisibility" scenes and how hard I laughed at them, and still crack up to this day if I think about it.

Why isn't The Fog remake on the list? That easily gets my vote.

It didn't make the top 20. The Mummy certainly would have had boxofficemojo not classified it as an action adventure film. That's how bad of a remake it was: it didn't even count as a horror film any more!

Raiders of the Lost Ark was a great action film. The Mummy had its brains pulled out through its nasal cavity with a long hook. There was nothing about it that I hadn't seen done better before.

It should have been a horror film.

Every copy of the remake of The Fog should be gathered and burned so that future generations may be spared the horror of actually seeing any of it.

that may have already happened. i can't remember the last time i saw a copy of it anywhere. of all the crap remakes that have come and gone, this one seems to have (mercifully) fallen the furthest off the radar. were it not for threads like this one, i would have completely fogotten about its existence.

The Crazies is the only decent remake of a classic horror film to come out since 1986 (I really want to see Let Me In for some reason, I have a feeling about that one) and even that couldn't improve upon the original.

What should be happening is remakes aiming for, and I think Crazies just might have, improving other remakes and similar films to come out recently. If there were trends done to death and which lost their potency in the 70's and 80's- this can hardly be rectified by some lousy survival flick which doesn't know how to utilize atmosphere and music and style and characterization and...
