While watching Part 3 the other day with a companion, it hit me that a reason I rarely revisit this entry might be in part due to Richard Brooker's lackadaisical performance. Curious to see what others feel is Jason's weakest turn and why.

I actually really like Jason from part 3. I think the ending is one of the creepiest Jason moments.

Had to go with Mears from the remake. Not that I think he did a poor job or anything, he just loses by default.

Ken was my least favorite Jason. But performance based, CJ was an utter mess.

I used to think there wasn't much of a difference between the films until I rewatched the series on Blu-ray a few years ago. That was when I realized that Kirzinger slowly tromping around like Frankenstein really didn't work for me. I mean, he was directed to give the performance like that, but it was just a boring interpretation of the character for me.

I want the person's head on a stick who voted Richard Brooker.

I also want to go back in time, pull my vote, and put it in for Ted White. It's no more out there than saying Richard Brooker was the weakest.

I really like his take on Jason. Of all the portrayals, his seems to show Jason's mental disability the most. He seems completely detached from the world and people around him. Of course, maybe he was just detached for real, and I'm just reading it as a performance!

Interesting. We both have different reads. I always scoff when a review says something to the degree of "he/she looks like they didn't want to be there." It feels like they're projecting their dislike of the film on the actor(s). But in the case of Brooker's Jason, I find his aimless shambling and slack-shouldered posture is evidence of his disinterest.

I know Ted White wasn't too keen on his role, but am I mistaken in remembering Brooker felt similarly?

Went with Ken Kirzinger. He wasn't awful, but I didn't particularly love the Frankenstein vibe.

I can't necessarily disagree with you........ maybe I just have a soft spot for the first Jason to rock the hockey mask! But I also just love the day time scene towards the end when his mask is off and he runs from the upstairs window down outside...... creepy as fuck.

I don't like Kane. I've never liked Kane. Steve Dash will always be my favorite.

I don' like him either. All he ever did in articles/interviews was badmouth other actors who played Jason. He always thought he was the best and he was by far the shittiest. My vote for best is Warrington Gillette.

    I voted for Kane Hodder.
Not a fan of his cartoony take on the character.
After Jason came back as a Zombie, it just wasn't the same.

So go ahead, bring on the heat ;):D

But Warrington was only the one that jumped through the window at the end. The rest of the film was Steve, at least according to him.

Sorry bud. My bad. I forgot it was double listed. Yes, the best are those two. I guess Steve Dash if he did the majority of the movie. Really like his performance. It was so much more believable to me. He was deadly but cautious at the same time. He kind of approached killing with a sense that he could also be hurt, which I find more believable than some mindless killing machine.

I voted for Kirzinger, mostly because I liked all the other Jasons better. I don't so much dislike his Jason, but he didn't make much of an impression on me.

That said, Hodder wasn't high on my list when I first fell in love with these movies. I'm not sure if it's because he's in my least favourite Jason films (apart from Freddy vs. Jason, which I haven't felt inclined to revisit since my first and only viewing) or the way he tends to emote like a WWE fighter. There is a certain charm to his rubbery corpse look from The New Blood, but I find him much scarier as physically deformed and still very much alive killer from Parts 2 & 3.
