Halloween 5 (best film ever made) Friday the 13th, Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (second best film ever made) Parents The Fly II A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child (stylish but depressing, but still better than the others for me in what's a pretty weak year) Wish I could have voted for Bud the Chud. So close, IMDb...so close.
The Church Pet Sematary Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers Sleepaway Camp III: Teenage Wasteland Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
Santa Sangre Pet Sematary (doesn't do much for me now but Zelda freaked me out as a kid) Society Sleepaway Camp 3 NOES 5: Dream Child I still need to see Parents. I have a feeling I will enjoy that one. Now, we will be entering the dreaded '90s. :nervous:
yeah, not much to get too excited about for this year. I was recently disappointed by Intruder when I saw it for the first time. A few great gore gags by KNB, but about as uninteresting a slasher as you could possibly imagine. Besides the gore, the only other thing worth seeing it for were the incredibly cheesy camera set-ups. A shot from inside the rotary phone? If I hadn't already known this was directed by Scott Spiegel, this would have tipped me off - even his direction is painfully corny. So my list: Pet Semetary (I've been thinking about this a lot lately - as a new father, just the memory of Gage's death scene disturbs the shit out of me. This movie is such a ferocious downer, it's incredible.) The Church Warlock (anybody else remember when some kid in the states killed his friend to try to melt his fat so that he could fly after seeing this movie? fucking disturbing.) Leviathan The Fly II (one of the first horror movies I saw as a kid)
Yeah, plenty there for film fans and it has a nice dark edge to it. Pretty madcap, and Hanks, Dern and Feldman are all game to just let loose. Love the whole neighbourhood set, they do a good job with the geography of it in the film and its artificialness (new word) just kind of adds another layer of playfulness to the film. Never really took to Dante growing up, but over the years his films have been the ones to really hold up upon a second viewing.
hey Hellbilly, you should keep this rolling into the 90's. seeing these snapshots of what was released in a given year is pretty illuminating. i'd like to see that same kind of thing for the 90's.
