I've hit a dry spot in dvd and blu-ray purchases lately. With an extensive collection there are few titles I can get excited about anymore it seems. Which ones are on your most wanted list for this Xmas season?
Not a lot sadly (bit of a dry spot too - although probably a good thing as my Christmas present list (for other people) is rather large ) Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) - not looking forward to the PQ though. Christmas Evil (1980) - not watched this before so this will be the pick of the bunch
December looks like it will be a total dry spell. Tales From The Crypt / Vault Of Horror, Avenging Force, and Lord Of Illusions are the only titles I'll be picking up. Already have all three pre-ordered. Kind of nice actually, my wallet could use a break. Of course, January is packed with releases, go figure. You'd think they'd want to get that stuff out before Christmas. Some decent stuff this month too, Christmas Evil, Pumpkinhead 2, Shock Waves, the Romero titles from Scream. Weird that December is so barren. EDIT: I guess the Fright Night / Breaking Away pre-order will be in December also, even though they don't street until January. So there's two more I guess.
The Innocents (Criterion) Eraserhead (Criterion) Roman Polanski's Macbeth (Criterion) Vincent Price Collection I Resolution As Above/So Below The Happening Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones anddd David Cronenberg's new novel Consumed & Stephen King's new novel Revival
Like most of you, my collection is extensive. This makes Christmas challenging. It's difficult because you have to keep up on purchasing blu-ray's near their release date in order to avoid missing out on them. My blu-ray horror Xmas list is: Bug (Germany). Not really horror, but difficult to categorize. Close Encounters of the Third King. Again, not horror but Sci-fi anyway. Godzilla (Criterion) Nekromantik (Arrow) The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (Second Sight). Tales From The Crypt/Vault of Horror. Shockwaves. The Sacrament.
I use Christmas as an opportunity to fill the gaps in my collection. This year I'm asking for some of the Mondo Macabro, Blue Underground, and Scorpion discs that I haven't picked up yet, among others. I never ask for newer releases.
Demons (1985) Demons 2 (1986) The Sentinel (1977) [German Blu-ray] The Innocents (1961) Jennifer (1978) Shock Waves (1977) StageFright (1987) To All a Goodnight (1980) Nightmare City (1980) The Hammer Collection - 21 Disc Collectors' Boxset -- REGION 2
Speaking of Christmas… who around here is gonna do a Christmas-related horror top 10 list? The People DEMAND it.
Hate to say, while searching for a restaurant that didn't exist at the mall today, I lost it with the X-Mas music blasting, and screamed "Fuck Christmas" at the top of my lungs. I feel so much fucking better now! Sorry to anyone I might've traumatized, the looks did range from death stare, to falling down laughing. All I want for Christmas is it to be over, thank you, make it happen!
I fucking hate Christmas music. Some woman at my work asked me if I wanted to go to a Christmas party she was throwing at her house. She didn't want there to be any booze and she was handing out Christmas carols (that she personally typed up) for everyone to sing. I told her I'd need serious fucking drugs and alcohol to make that even semi-decent. I don't know if she knew that I was serious. ~Matt
If it wasn't for hearing non-stop Xmas music at every store or restaurant I visit, I'd have no issue. I'm not being a grinch, I just want to hear something else, anything else! Plus when you are (I am) already frustrated, Xmas music hits the same nerve as baby screams and nails on chalkboards. This is tied directly to the rage button, too much pressure, it gets pressed, I go off.
