My favorites are The Haunting and The Uninvited. Since The Haunting is the only one of those 2 listed, it got my vote.

The Shining, followed by The Haunting(1963) and The Changeling. Not technically a haunted house film, but The Entity is great too.

I was tempted to include The Entity, but thought the same way. Really great movie!

    Poltergeist.

Still one of the scarier movies.

Wow, can't believe I forgot Fulci's House By The Cemetery-that's a great one too. Just watched it a week ago or so, definitely in my top 5 haunted house films. Striking posters and vhs cover art for that one too.

The Shining. But I also like Amityville Horror, Legend of Hell House, and Poltergeist. I have all of them on DVD.

Nothing comes close to The Haunting. The Shining loses it's haunted house focus by concentrating its efforts on the male lead, imo. The Haunting is freaky through and through.
