Evil Dead Trap. I didnt get a cool case, but its also the only Synapse film I own.
Evil Dead Trap this movie is pure awesomeness!
Evil Dead Trap for me.
I only have... maybe 4 Synapse DVDs max. Of those, Brain Damage by a mile. It'd be great to have some cast participation, but the work on that transfer is just amazing. I paid $13, not knowing what to expect. Not only was the movie great but the DVD quality is incredible.
This is an old thread.
Deadbeat At Dawn
A Better Place. Great View Askew movie.
Vampyros Lesbos followed by another Franco film, Exorcism.
I voted for Exorcism. I really like that film plus the dvd artwork on the reverse cover rocks.
Who else would possibly give The Brain That Wouldn't Die the Criterion Treatment like Synapse Films has? Easily my favorite of their releases. They may have released "better" movies or "better" special editions over the years, but that's still the release that brings a tear to my eye.
That and the uncut Thriller.
Castle of Blood, horror wise.
Brain Damage, cause it's uncut. The Paramount video was a butchery. Deadly Spawn is my second choice. Fun movie.
I have to go with Street Trash followed by Brain Damage and Deadly Spawn.
Street Trash all the way. What was Criterion thinking when they passed up on this?
Long Weekend. I was ecstatic to see that released on DVD, and the transfer exceeded my expectations. The Deadly Spawn and Nail Gun Massacre would be my second and third choices.
Brain Damage, awesome DVD and my favorite of Henenlotter's movies.
It's not listed but I'd vote for LEMORA:A CHILD'S TALE OF THE SUPERNATURAL.Great restoration of a very offbeat little flick.
My vote goes to Thriller: A Cruel Picture.
These would all be runners-up.
This thread is so old, Vampyros Lesbos is no longer a property of Synapse Films. That DVD went out-of-print several years ago and was replaced by the one that Image Entertainment released on October 5, 2004. The Image disc has a much better transfer.
Synapse: 1.66:1 non-anamorphic
Image: 1.78:1 anamorphic
The Synapse release also suffered from a lot of print damage including dirt, debris, lines, etc. This was cleaned up on the Image release.
A Better Place. I love the hidden menu with the drunken commentary.
i'm the only one to vote for THE IMAGE?!?!?! It's my most coveted dvd. I really want to see the Brain Damage release. Synapse is one of the few (only?) companies that puts out consistently amazing stuff, ALL of which I would never regret buying. Big ups to the Deadly Spawn as well!!!
