I mean no disrepect but I'm surprised by how young so many of you guys are hehehe

My first R rated film ever was the 1979 John Frankenheimer film THE PROPHECY

My dad took me to the drive-in to see it. I was about 7 years old at the time. The movie scared the shit out of me and I still have some images of it burned into my brain.

I have never seen it since. Mostly because I just never really thought about it until only somewhat recently and by then I didn't want to "spoil" my childhood memories. I've heard the movie is kinda crap so hehehe

First R rated horror film I saw at the theatre was the '92 version of Bram Stoker's Dracula. I was 12 :)

First 18A rated movie I saw theatrically was Jeepers Creepers. I still want my money back.

For USA "R", I saw Blair Witch Project, which is 14A in Canada when I was 14.

I dunno what my first R rated movie was, my parents never told me not to watch certain films, so I've been watching R rated flicks since I was expelled from the womb (sounds dirty).

Don't forget the perrenial - "It's WAY underrated!"

Prophecy was an R in the UK for some reason, I'm pretty damn sure.

From what i can remember i think my first X was The House By The Cememtery.

    Around 1983`ish i`d guess.

I`d have been 14/15 at the time.

My friend and i pissed ourselves laughing at the movie thinking it was so corny.

    Great flick

Yup FulciZombieFan, Cujo is right. Prophecy is just a "PG" movie. I saw that one in theaters myself too by the way. 3 times in one week in fact. You're not the only "old" one here. :)

Anyway, try again since that one didn't count.

Scanners was my first "R" also - I had just turned 15. It was summer break and I walked up to the mall (3 miles of woods and farmland) with my best friend. I remember being nervous, wondering what was different about an "R". Then I saw the explosion scene, and went "Ah-ha! THAT's the difference!" Since there was only two screens, and it was some romance flick on the other, we watched it twice. Scariest part of the whole day was getting shot at by the farmer on the way back home. And we didn't really mean to mess up his corn...

What an interesting thread! I had never really thought about this before, but it is neat to see how different people of different ages have all seen different films. Most of us all got our start with mainstream fare, which isn't too surprising. My first one was SCREAM; I snuck into it with some friends when I was 13. I had already seen plenty of horror films on VHS, but it was something else to see it on the big screen. I remember thinking how intense the start was, because I was used to being able to pause a horror movie or at least look away. But in the theatre the image was so big and the surround from all directions, it really scared the shit out of me as a kid.

I truly don't even remember the first R-Rated film I saw. I used to go with my parents to see movies at the theater often, and that included a lot of R movies.

In the theatre I'm not too sure but on TV it was the original Friday the 13th.

    Well I'm bad

I thought PROPHECY was 'R' rated.

I guess that makes my first 'R' rated film BLADERUNNER which I also saw at the drive-in.

    Not exactly horror though ...

But the very next 'R' rated film I saw was CREEPSHOW so that was my second 'R' rated movie and my first 'R' rated horror movie.

After that I lost track :)

    P.S.
Surprising how CREEPSHOW is the answer here for so many!

My first R rated film I think was Jaws 3-D. It was also the first film I saw in an indoor theatre. Before that my family always took us to drive-in's. I guess I was 6 or 7.

It's hard to remember that far back but I guess the earliest one I can remember was seeing Deranged at the drive in with my mom and dad, brother and sister haha what a great family outing. :) I was gonna say Blood Feast but I believe it was X rated.
