As I'm new here, I'm curious to see what people's top 5 horror films are.
If you also want to add comments or write an essay, feel free.
Please refrain from slagging others' selections - this is a personal thing!

My Top 5 (in no particular order)
The Exorcist (still the scariest thing I've ever seen)
Scanners (saw this on opening night & still love it!)
    Suspiria (my intoduction to Argento)
Zombie 2 (had to track this film down after seeing it on the cover of Fangoria #3)
An American Werewolf In London (again on opening night as a teen)

Honourable mention: Ju-On: The Grudge (in DTS)

    Anyone else care to share?

    1. Deep Red
    2. The Bird With A Crystal Plumage
    3. House By The Cemetery
    4. Torso
    5. Tenebrae
Though this changes every day :D.

    1. Evil Dead Trilogy (okay, so I cheated a little)
    2. Dawn of the Dead (Original)
    3. Video Drome
    4. Bad Taste
    5. Deep Red

Honorable mention goes to: Blood Feast 2- Easily made the list apon first watching, but I later found that it didn't stand up to sobriety nearly as well.
List subject to change without notice.

depends what you classify as horror... plus if you rate them on rewatchability or not.. for first time viewing i'd say my top 5 would be

    Dawn of the Dead
    Haute Tension
    Evil Dead 2
    The Thing
    Wrong turn

was tempted to put a lot of others in but theyre not technically horrors, like aliens, frighteners, big trouble in little china, club dread, brain dead (which i call a comedy)

Mind certainly changes every day. No way I couold whittle down my horror films into a permanent - or even a semi-permanent - top five. But at this moment in time:

    1. Crash
    2. The Beyond
    3. Dracula Has Risen from the Grave
    4. The Wolf Man (Lon Chaney)
    5. Tenebrae

That'as good for five minutes :)

Mine changed every day also. It really depends on my mood at the time. Here is my favorite at the moment:

    1) The Lost Boys (renewed interest thanks to the killer 2-disc release)
    2) Return of the Living Dead (this one will always be on the list)
    3) NOTLD '90
    4) Creature from the Black Lagoon (renewed because of the announcement of the Universal Legacy Collection 2 disc version)
    5) Zombi 2 (I wonder why?)

  7. Big Bobby D

    Big Bobby D Guest

This should be a top ten list! I can't post just five, I gotta go for the ten! (list is in no particular order; list subject to change due to more and more horror flicks being seen all the time!)
1.Night Of The Livivng Dead 1968
    2.The Evil Dead 1982
    3.The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1974
    4.Demons 1985
5.An American Werewolf In London 1981
    6.Phantasm 1979
    7.Halloween 1978
    8.The Exorcist 1973
    9.Dawn Of The Dead 1978
    10.
Now that I think of it, maybe I only have 9 top favorites!
Other honorable mentions go to:pledge Night, Flesheater, The Dark Power, Back From Hell, Re-Animator, Psycho II and III, etc, I could go on all day. I'll post more when I think about them.

    01. Freaks (also happens to be my all-time favorite movie, regardless of genre)
    02. Night of the Hunter (not sure if this qualifies, but it has elements of a horror film, so i'll add it in)
    03. The Bride of Frankenstein
    04. Dawn of the Dead
    05. Deep Red (or maybe Suspiria, it flip-flops a lot)

Given more room I would add a Vincent Price film, Curse of Frankenstein, and a few others which occasionally would pop up on my top 5.

  20. The Evil Dead
    The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
    Black Christmas
    Halloween
    Cabin Fever

My top four always stay the same, but the last one does tend to find a new one every now and then. I know many people hated Cabin Fever, but I've watched it countless times and it never gets old. Oh well, just my personal taste.
