Doubt this will be out on time as it is Shriek Show we're talking about. ;)

I don't have the DVD nor have I even seen this film before, but I love zombies so I'm definitely buying it.

Can't wait to read about the poor picture quality. :p

If the 84 minutes are correct, it will only be the shorter Italian cut. The uncut version found on the Japanese or German DVDs by X-rated or HDMV runs 88:08 minutes in Pal which equals approx 90 minutes in NTSC.

To celebrate the new UE release of Zombie of course! Suprised they skipped Zombi 3 and went right to 4.

A lot of companies are inexplicably doing this - releasing the dreck on Blu-ray first and bypassing the stuff that people really want. But what happens is nobody buys the product (because it is dreck) so the companies then say things like "Blu-ray isn't selling", or "We're closing up shop because we only sold three copies". Yeah, people REALLY want Zombie 4 (that's not the real title anyway) instead of Just Before Dawn or Anthropophagus on Blu-ray.

I am happy to hear Zombie 4 (After Death) is hitting blu ray. The only reason I can imagine the skip over Zombi 3 is MB are hoping to find a real source for the Japanese Intro scene which look like a vhs/ld rip on the dvd.

Zombie 4? I think not. My DVD is just fine and I have no desire to upgrade, now I would for Zombie 3 though!

I feel like the lone idiot on this one - not that I'd buy the Blu-ray - but I fucking love Zombie 4: After Death. Not that it's a good movie, I just had a blast. I dunno, in the pantheon of cheesy movies, I would go for Zombie 4 in an instant. It has just the right blend of half assed style mixed with low budget sensationalism and general Italian insanity. I haven't seen it recently, yet my memories still make me smile. To me, it's infinitely better than Zombie 5: Killing Birds (one of the worst movies I've ever seen) and tops Zombi 3... even though the flying zombie head scene dropkicks the top scenes of Zombie 4.

I didn't even know there was a longer cut. According to schnittberichte.com there are two versions of Zombie 4: Original Version and Export Version.
The export version runs 8 minutes longer and includes three additional dialogue scenes. Here are screen caps of said footage:

I have the german dvd with both cuts. The longer cut is fullscreen and their is no extra gore footage. Nice package though. It comes in one of those large Kult snapcases like the one the German Four Flies disc came in.

I'm a sucker for zombie films but really didn't care for Zombie 4. I've only seen it once- when the MB DVD was first released. I'm sure I'll watch it again someday but definitely won't bother picking up this Blu ray.

And while we're on the subject, I still haven't been able to bring myself to watch Killing Birds, but maybe it's finally time?
