According to Axelmusic.com, Shriek Show is gonna release Zombie Holocaust on september 28 as a BD/DVD combo.

Is there any truth to this, as I haven´t heard anything about it lately?

I would kill to have this disc :)

This is supposed to be Shriek Show's next Blu-ray after Buio Omega, but I doubt the 9/28 date is accurate.

Weird, I was just thinking about this film the other day. I used to have the old Dragon release but sold it when the Shriek Show edition was announced. Never actually picked it up though, so I guess I'll grab the Blu when it comes out. The real question is when is Zombie going to get a Blu ray release?

I found the Zombie Holocaust blu-ray on Sears.com for $13.49 last month, and I pre-ordered it. I got an email about a week ago saying that they had canceled my order because the item has been discontinued by the manufacturer. So, was the release canceled? The release date when I pre-ordered it was 9/28.

I talked with Media Blasters last week -- it's just taking longer than expected to prep these titles. BEYOND THE DARKNESS is now slated for November, with others coming after that. (I'm pushing for BURIAL GROUND!)

I didn't care for this one. At all. I'm happy for fans of the movie, but I would much rather have Just Before Dawn, The Dark, or What Have You Done to Solange? (if MB/SS still holds the rights to that one). I'd even upgrade Antropophagus, though I have mixed feelings about that movie. I am happy that Media Blasters is starting to break into blu-ray, though - I hope it will be a successful venture for the company. :)

The same point as Evil Dead get´s a BD release or any other movie. It´s for the upgrade in quality.

Anything shot on 16mm and 35mm will look better on BD no matter what shitty stock they used. And a lot of these early DVD releases doesn´t hold up today.

But most DVD's look better on Blu anyway. Surlely cheapo films like these will actually look worse and the film and tech flaws of the film are highlighted.

Medie Blasters has a booth at the Texas Frightmare Weekend, I'm hoping they'll have some of these blu's out early, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

It might depend on licensing, but their Flesh Eater Blu-ray release was "A" locked. The old Zombie Holocaust DVD they released was Region 1 locked.

I have a feeling we're not getting this until Beyond the Darkness is released.
