I'm not a fan of the italian zombie flicks so I guess I dont have to worry too much about this thread. I just dont get why Argento released DOTD as Zombi in Europe. Why couldnt Romero just release it himself and keep the title?

Becasue Argento was the producer and if Romero released it over there, people would be like who is this guy. But if Argento released it they would think of his films in the past and the fact that Argento was more popular than Romero back than. At least in Italy.

If I remember correctly, Romero's Night was very popular in Europe, and Argento actually approached Romero and offered to back a sequel to it, with the understanding that Argento could release his own cut of the film tailored to European audiences.

And DeathDealer - even in Europe, George Romero was still credited as director (as far as I know), so that wouldnt' change anything. I would have guessed that they'd use the "Dario Argento presents..." moniker, but who knows. Why they changed the title is beyond me though. Maybe it just sounded better?

just watched night of the living dead ME... finally got round to watching the film that started it all.. pretty cool movie.. although i dunno about this whole "radiation" thing... plus the zombies were a bit too clever compared to the zombies in day of the dead

I believe Romero put that bit in as an after-thought when someone told him that American audiences wouldn't buy the "zombie thing" without some sort of explanation as to its cause.

Heck, in Day of the Dead they had zombies dialing telephones and firing handguns! ;)

yes but these zombies chased a woman around to the other door, tried opening it, picked up a brick. broke the window... i dont think the typical zombie in day of the dead woulda done that :0

So after Zombi 3, they started just calling them Zombie 4, 5, etc.?
