Just kidding. Anyway, looking at the new DVD from BU, the blood from the neck of the guy attacked on the boat in New York harbor looks very orange. Anyone else notice this? In contrast, the blood is dark red on the Roan laserdisc. Comments?

maybe, but it's only a year-old Philips widescreener. I also re-did Video Essentials tonight. Oh well - was just wondering. The SS one looks more reddish. I'll simply up the color when I watch this...it sorta bothers me since that scene is so familiar to me. I hate seeing it altered since the effect is so realistic (eww! is it ever!)

  4. Is your TV calibrated?

The blood doesn't look orange, but with the increased picture clarity, it does look a lot more artificial (like paint). Not as bad as in Dawn of the Dead, but the blood is lighter than in AB's releases. The price we pay for a great transfer I guess...

Dawn's blood was supposed to look that way.

Thanks for looking, you guys! Yes, it is simply the remastered high quality I suppose. The scene on the boat is the only one I had probs with. The other one, the neck-biting of Auretta Gay's character looks great nice, deep red!

Dawn's blood wasn't supposed to look that way from the outset....even today if you listen to Tom Savini during his commentaries, he said he messed up. But Romero thought it was fine because it lended a comic book "over the top" element to the the movie.

Yeah, I meant that it's supposed to look like paint because of the whole bad blood/comic book deal. They took what they had and went with it. I like it the way it is, though.
