    "THE DEAD WALK!"
--Day Of The Dead newspaper headline.

Well, not anymore. We've seen the trailer for the upcoming Dawn Of The Dead remake and we've seen the living dead ... run.
Not the first time though, those infected semi-zombies in 28 Days Later and those pizza-faced flesheaters in Nightmare City actually ran also ...
Are they more threatening when they run? Which kind do you prefer?

I prefer them walking in very big amounts....
    More threatening that way.
Though if they're running you can't outrun them

Walking is better. They win by numbers.

Walking. They are more spooky that way.

Running in the beginning and then as they began to rot walking... crawling... and what ever comes next.

I feel that zombies can take on any form the writer sees fit. I have enjoyed movies with both fast and slow zombies.

Could care less. Like zombies couldn't move fast in the first Dawn (remember the one, posing as a mannequin mind you, had the gumption to wait until the precise moment to leap). No big deal IMO.

I like both, so frankly, I could give a shit either way. Running zombies are scarier, because they catch you easier. I still enjoy the walking zombies too though. I love the idea in the Dawn remake that the freshly dead run, while the more rotted ones walk.

Yes, there needs to be a 'Don't give a shit' in the selection here. I enjoy both and will take either.

    Both

    60% Walking
    40% Running

I like both, just as long as they eat their victims in the bloodiest way possible.

Put me down for "not giving a shit". When zombies start kicking off walls and turning flips then I'll be concerned.

Dead flesh, rotting or not, should not be able to run. I was almost tempted to vote other because the shuffling that one would expect of a reanimated corpse isnt' exactly walking either.
Weren't they doing that in House of The Dead?

Didn't they also do cool things like that in Chinese Ghost Story from '87? (jumpin and stuff) Maybe I'm mistaken.

There are some good movies where zombies run (SHOCK WAVES and 28 DAYS LATER), but I tend to prefer those that walk, especially in the context of DAWN OF THE DEAD. The original was so effective because the zombies formed this aggregate mass that would slowly overtake the humans. The fact that they were a slow, lifeless mass totally makes them out to be a deathly representation of the mindless consumer culture that Romero was commenting on. Once you give them life by having them run, that sort of commentary goes right out the window, the effect is lost. I wish they would have just kept the slow zombies for the remake, but who knows, it might turn out alright.
