Slow and stumbling - the best ones. The fast ones: it's the latest thing although the zombies in CITY OF THE WALKING DEAD were among the first ones on the screen. They're predictable, though. The slow ones are more threatening - I love squirming in my seat watching the characters underestimate the slower ones.
The *riot* zombies in RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD were actually funny ("send more cops!"). When they start flying around on wires and doing kung fu that's when I'll give up on the genre. I have a feeling that's next. The *rage*-infected people from 28 Days Later were filmed like the battle scenes in GLADIATOR (choppy, speede up). Already an eye-rolling cliche.
I'll take the FULCI and ROMERO zombies any day.

The only reasons zombies started running is because audience's these days have ADD and need to have everything sped up or they'll lose interest.

I agree. I blame videogames. But I've gotten over it and can enjoy the newer films too--and I think SHAUN OF THE DEAD has shown that there's still an audience for the slower variety of zombie.

True... videogames don't rot your mind, they ruin OUR horror movies. :)
