Had the chance to actually see the film since I never had time to watch the BARREL DVD.
I was blown away.

this film has such a creepy feeling that gets under your skin in a very cunning way and stays there. Now I'm stuck with it. It is a feeling I only felt with TCM.

By the way, THE MUSIC WAS AWESOME! Anyone knows where I can get it on cd? Or mp3 maybe?

I totally agree with you, Chaostar... LAST HOUSE is one of my favorite movies, and the DVD kicks a$$!

I was really pleased with this. I was wary of spending $30 on a movie I'd never seen before, but man was it worth it!

I still gotta watch my copy, i started to but the movie looked pretty crappy to me and i just was not in the right mood. I'll give it a spin this weekend hopefully.:)

Honestly the disc is better than the movie. I liked it a lot more after watching all the stuff and learning about all the shit Watkins went through.

Isn't it great when you take a chance on a disc and it becomes one of your favorite flicks?

This is one movie you probably should take a shower after watching it.

You should definitely give it another chance... It's the kind of movie that really sticks with you after you see it... At least it did for me. I was really blown away by it.

if this is anything like last house on the left then im sure it will really disturb me.... watched cannibal holocaust and cannibal ferox a few weeks ago and was amazed at how tame these films were compared to how all the reviews make them out to be.. i can manage gorey films no problem (maybe because the gore is laughably fake 99% of the time) but i just cant seem to handle the torture/rape type films.... i was thinking about buying last house on dead end street and ISOYG but i dunno whether i will enjoy them or be repulsed by them, cannibal holocaust is a brilliant movie but i find last house on the left to be rather boring

i want to be terrified, i like a good scarey movie, its just too damned hard to find a movie that fits the criteria when ur not a kid anymore

I recently tried to watch this. Twice. I just cant do it. I love films like TCM and LHOL, but this was just bad. I know a lot of people like it and I can see why, its just doesnt do much for me. The disc is really much better than the movie.

I find myself thinking about this movie at least once a week. Man is it just a dirty little film, and on DVD as well! The raw elements just really fuck with your head.

You know, it kind of irks me the hype this movie/DVD has rec'd. I find that most, not all, seem to be let-down by the film. I blame that on the multitude of reviews found on the 'net that claim this film as "disturbing," "shocking," "repulsive," etc etc. And while LHODES is certainly an uneasy watch, I just don't think it REALLY pushes the envelope, like the hype has led us to believe. Watching it via an old, washed out VHS copy (in this case the original Sun Video VHS which took me well over a year to obtain) over the years has given me a certain degree of appreciation for it. For a while there, LHODES was actually my all-time favorite horror movie. Still haven't picked up the DVD, yet.

I haven't seen much hype about this movie at all to be honest with you.

I have tried to get through this twice now and just cant. I dont mind low budget but its got an art film pace and style on top of the budget that just seems to feel more pretensious than your average exploitation flick. And I love ISOYG. I even have a few of the Ilsa movies. I dont even dislike preachy exploitaion like Man Bites Dog. Just something about the obvious and heavy handed art school techniques just kept making me roll my eyes.

Funny, I just got LHODES on dvd 2 days ago, I was expecting alot - found it ok, but I hate the VHS extra gore - picture looks like crap.

The problem is the audio and the sync with video - since most is ADR, it never matches and this is hard to watch. I'm glad I purchased the DVD, the movie wasn't bad, but the a couple of things really took my interest away from the plot.

I'm thinking of getting this film.

So is this movie worth it at the end of the day?

I would say yes. It's got this creepy, dirty, sleezy feel to it that just makes you want to take a shower afterwards.

Barrel has put together a fantastic DVD for this sleazefest. I like it alot, but it is certainly an aquired taste. Very mean spirited and bottom of the barrel budget. Good stuff. :)

This didn't do it for me...might have been because I'd heard so much about it over the years that nothing could have possibly lived up to what I'd imagined in my mind. It was just a little too artsy for my taste, though I did like the sleazy porn scenes in the first part of the movie.

Hell yea it's worth it. Like was said before it is very sleazy feeling and makes you feel like a shower afterwards. Not too different from seeing pics of Ryan and Zoso together in a strip club now that I think about it. :nervous:

I took a chance on this flick and loved it. I don't know why anyone would want to take that gore scene out, though, it cements the movie. And, it's not like the video quality is all that different, it's all pretty bad. I'd kill for Shriek Show to have inserted the shitty-looking uncut scenes into the nice widescreen transfer of the cut version. So, props to Barrel for doing what's right.

I dont know what it is about this film--but i find it to be one of the most disturbing films Ive EVER seen. It gave me nightmares, and very few films can effect me that way anywhere. It is a film that I try not to watch too often, asI don't want it to lose the effect. I think it is also best watched late at night....

I have this movie on a brentwood 4 pack dvd.The transfer was pretty crappy but maybe it just added to the dirty feeling the movie gave me.It is a mean spirited movie, wich is why I think I liked it.Not all movies can make me feel like that.

That's what I was kinda thinking but I thought I'd ask to be sure. You never know with those Brentwoods. Some movies are packaged under alternate titles.

Not an idiot, there are too many damn movies with nearly the same title to remember :) I did have the barrel disc, tried to watch it found it just too cheap looking and not all I though it would be, then was lucky enough to exchange it for the criterion release of Fiend without a Face, what a drastic change in movies :D

My apologies to the poor sap(s) who click on this hoping it's come back in print. But, I looked on Ebay to see what the price was going for on this one out of curiosity and in the most recent completed listing, the someone asked the seller a question and he responded that his copy is numbered. I don't recall a number anywhere on mine, anyone know what the deal is?

When I was at work I could clearly picture numbering on the back cover but now I am home and there are no numbers to be found anywhere on the package or in the book. Had this one on pre-order for ages from Shocking Images, back when they were still in business, before it got released. (Not sure if they were around to sell it to me once it was released though...)

Mine also is not numbered...

However, just because a DVD is not numbered, does not mean that is is not Limited Edition...

That Hot Movies link looks kind of fishy to me as well...

There was only the Barrel release and I think there was a Region 2 release which may have gotten pulled right away because of rights issues...

MorallySound

Barrel was the only authorized release, so if this is even a re-issue it's unauthorized.

I just looked over my dvd and there isn't any number on the outside packaging. I haven't opened mine yet so I can't say if there is a number inside. I do have a nice poster for the film under an alternate title.
