Which is your favorite of the two and why? and has anyone seen the 3rd in the 'trilogy' HITCH HIKE ? I havent seen this one yet and was wondering how it compares and if its even worth seeing!
I prefer House At The Edge of the Park because Hess is just pure EVIL in this one.
SPOILER ALERT

When Alex starts carving up Cindy with the straight razor even I was cringing and felt bad for the poor girl.. and then to hear in the interview with Hess that he really hit her.. Damn no wonder she truly had that terrified look in her eyes. She was terrified!!
I love the interview with Hess on the DVD for the movie. He truly is sinister. Was even better when they talked to his wife and she seemed really uneasy with his films! I had no idea she was the girl that got raped in the opening scene until it was mentioned in the interviews.
Love to hear everyone else thoughts on Hess and these films!

well ive seen all 3 and if you are a fan of those 2 movies and Hess in general you will love it. Hess was great in it but Franco Nero really is very annoying in my opinion.
I prefer House on the Edge because i like the cast and music better. John Morghan, Lorraine DeSelle and Riz Ortolani's score all fucking rock. i acutally like Krug better then Alex (even tho they are more then very similar), but thats not enough to put Last House on top.
and Hess? hes the man! plain and simple.

Right now, I am much more in HOUSE ON THE EDGE... I've seen LAST HOUSE 500 times, and I think I might be a little burnt out on it. I still am a big fan of LAST HOUSE. I think both are very disturbing, effective movies.
I actually watched HOUSE ON THE EDGE again a couple nights ago, and I just really enjoy that movie. David Hess is a totallly crazed, titty-squeezing maniac in it. :D I think it's the best performance I've seen from him.
My thoughts on Hess is that he was a really fucking brave actor! So many actors play bad guys, but he took it to a level that even the most brave actors wouldn't have the stomach to go to.

Out of the two you mentioned, LHOTL wins no doubt. It's a fucking brutal movie, and I love it. HOTEOTP was good, and it's got one of my favorite actors (Giovanni Lombardi-Radice), but I don't think it quite measures up. It has its moments, and there's some great scenes, but for the most part I thought it was a bit boring. Still like it a lot though.
As for HITCH-HIKE, it just might be my favorite of the three. Hess is a maniac, Nero is a bitch-slapping husband, and Clery isn't too bad on the eyes. It's also got some great action and violence. I wrote a full review here, if you're interested: http://www.eurohorrordvds.com/hitchhikereview.html .

House on the Edge of the park is my favorite. Like Jeff said the music is great and the cast is too. Hitch Hike is definetly second best, a great movie worth seeing.
Last House on the Left was pretty good the first half but I've always hated how the parents acted at the end and that sorta ruined the movie for me, definetly the least of the trilogy.
I like Hess and I really enjoy his characters in all of his movies.

Oh, out of the three Hitch Hike is my fav mainly for the reasons that Andrew said. Great movie:banana:

"LHOTL" for me. Still gritty, powerful and disturbing after all these years. You should have seen what it was like back in 1972! :)

House on the Edge of the Park... I can't really say I am enthused about Last House on the Left, but House on the Edge rocks IMO. The tension builds from the beginning.

What a good question. I'd have to give the edge to HOTEOTP. LHOTL is a great film (IMO) even though most people I've shown it to weren't really disturbed, they just thought it was too slow and low-budget. HOTEOTP has some great sequences in it and it also features the longest and loudest scream ever delived on celluloid. Hess rules!

My favorite scene in HOTEOTP is when Hess is pissing on the guy in the pool, and going "Ho Ho Ho", like Santa Claus. :D I love that scene.

If Lorraine was the short haired chick then I may just have to quietly leave this thread. Maybe she's hot with long hair?
