The Second Time Around

Ever watched a movie you first didn't really like but loved after giving it a second spin?

Yep, I was actually disappointed after watching this for the first time.
I had really high expectations for this - I was ready for yet another Videodrome or maybe something more controversial like Crash - but my first viewing of this was a big letdown.
eXistenZ didn't grab me at all, I thought it was rather dull.

So I watched it again a few days later and after a while it made "click" and I was like, holy shit! this movie is f'cking brilliant! :D
All of sudden this film made perfect sense to me.

Needless to say this is now one of my favorite Cronenberg flicks ever.

I love alot of movies that put me to sleep the first time viewing them. For example, Witchcraft sucked until I rewatched it and enjoyed it for what it was. I turned off Dead-Alive 25 minutes into it, thank god I decided to give it another shot and watched it the whole way though.

Fight Club for the first time(on VHS) i didn't really like it but then my friend convinced me to give it another shot so i decided to get the DVD(2 disc set thats OOP now, i think..) and i really enjoyed the movie. Its one of my fav films now:banana:

Another one is City Of The Living Dead, the second time i watced it i enjoyed it much more. I was able to see all the atmosphere which makes it a really good movie. But i still don't like the ending.:eek2: The first time i saw Suspiria i didn't really think too much of it, i saw a cut up print that was taped off TV so that must have had something to do with it becuase its also one of my fav movies.

I have this happen to me once in awhile, mostly when I have high expectations for a film.

Going back later and rewatching it with different knowledge of the film can make all of the difference. :)

A great deal of my favorite movies are ones that I wasn't really bowled over by the first time I watched them. It's all about holding up with repeated viewings... :D

And there are plenty of movies that I like the first time I see them, and then do nothing for me when I watch them again. They just don't resonate.

Man... this thread has made me wanna see this very good movie again. eXistenZ is awesome! I must get the Canadian release. It's off to the store for me. :)

probably "silence of the lambs" i seen it in the theatre and fell asleep,

then a few years later seen on video , and loved it.

Similar experience with "John Carpenter's Christine". The first time, I had rented it right after I had finished reading the novel, and the changed ending let me down a bit. I wrote the movie off as crap. A couple of months ago, I bought it on DVD, and I guess the anamorphic 2.35:1 transfer really helped changed my opinion! I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie! The scene were Christine runs down Moochie in the alleyway is classic! Good score too. The usage of "Beast of Burden" by the Stones was truly inspired! :D
