Just saw on the Hysteria Lives webpage that after Argento finishes his next 2 giallos then he will finally finish the last movie in the 3 mothers trilogy.

Fuck me.

I hope it's true, but I am a bit skeptical.

He might as well, I'm sure he's aware that whenever his name pops up in debate, its usually over the 3 mothers crap. I could go for it, he really needs to revitalize his career, and something like this could do it!

Nope - this was reported recently, and I believe announced in London. Mr. Argento will, in fact, close out the mothers story after his next two films. I'm glad to hear it, he isn't getting any younger and I'd hate the great triology to be hanging out there unfinished.

Can you imagine the box sets when this thing comes out???? Cool.

What are the names of his next 2 films?

I don't buy it. Back in the mid-eighties Daria Nicolodi had a script ready and Jennifer Connelly was going to play Mater Lachrymarum, but the project was put on hold. I remember rumors popping up about three times (that I've heard, at least) of Argento finishing the trilogy, but still nothing.

I would really love this to be true, especially since I haven't enjoyed an Argento movie since The Stendhal Syndrome (God help me, I really don't like Sleepless, no matter how many times I watch the damn thing).

If it does happen, I wonder who he'll get to play the lead role now? Connelly probably isn't too old, but that Oscar win last year probably made her too expensive, unless she really likes Argento and is willing to take a pay cut.

I don't see Jennifer Connelly doing this in a million years, at least at this point in her career.

Ok, now THAT's good news if it's true. Regarding Connolly, she probably considers herself too "big" to do his movies now, so I think Argento will have to look for another Mater Lachrymarum. Cynical, me? :D

Actually, when she was promoting Beautiful Mind on Conan O'Brein , she mentioned something about her early career, being a child actress, and being in cheesy Italian horror films. Conan asked like what?, and she replied roughly, "I was a psychic girl who could control flies or something and we solved murders"- and everybody had a good laugh.

So, yeah, she isnt going to be doing a Dario film anytime soon...

I think the audience would have gotten a bigger laugh if she mentioned the plot of "Career Opportunities".
For the record, Phenomena was much better than A Beautiful Mind, IMHO.

hell ya!

It'll probably be Asia that ultimately gets the part. This could be a big career boost for the whole Argento family. Can't wait. ;)

Talk about forgetting your roots! Another thing that annoyed me was during last year's Oscar Pre-Game show, Connelly said that if she won the award for Best Supporting Actress, that she'd thank Jim Henson for giving her big break. When she won, she didn't mention him once! :fire: :fire: I think Helen Mirren deserved it for "Gosford Park"...great movie.

Asia would be great in this kinda role. I'd love to see her in something a bit more macabre.

Jennifer Connelly definitely won't be in any future Argento film. After all, Hollywood makes good movies not crappy Italian horror. I hope that my sarcasm came through okay. "A Beautiful Mind" was so shitty that it was almost impossible to sit though. If not for my wife, I would not have subjected myself to such a braindead excuse for a film on schizophrenia. If you want to see a good film on schizophrenia, go see the superior "Spider" by Cronenberg.

I'm really looking forward to the conclusion to the Three Mothers trilogy... finally. I just hope that Argento goes back to his roots because his last few movies were somewhat lacking, IMO.

My vote for Mater Lachrymarum goes to Monica Bellucci.

"Spider" is amazing. One of Cronenberg's very best. Excellent performances all around...good to see John Neville still doing films!

I hope he uses those same crazy colors like in Suspiria and Inferno.

Argento has already finished the three mothers trilogy!

Well, I did read somewhere that the scene in Tenebre where the girl who shoplifts the book is killed is an in-jokey response to the fans who have been clamouring for him to finish the trilogy.
