well, according to this site:
http://www.oldies.com/product/view.cfm/id/4165d/keywords/Gammera.html

looks like a May 20th release date. i'm not exactly sure, but i don't think this movie is in public domain (most movies released by Alpha are PD). They may have the same thing happen to them like Goodtimes did with the original Godzilla dvd they released (TOHO made them stop selling their dvd as they did not have the rights to do so).

I love the 3 new Gamera movies that came out in the 90's, but I have never seen any of the original ones.

If I see this one floating around for this price, I will finally get a chance to watch one of the originals. :D

Count me in as well, as you can see in my "My DVD Collection" signature, I've just picked up the 3 new Gamera flicks released by Retromedia and ADV on dvd.

I wish it was the uncut Japanese version, but at least it isn't the dreadful Sandy Frank version that was painful to watch. For $6.98
how can I NOT get this?

Yeah, for $7 I'm not complaining.

I can't say no to Kaiju, even if it is Pan & Scan. The quality can be dirt, I don't mind that, but nothing bakes my beans more then presenting a feature out of it's OAR.

I'm almost positive this particular print is PD. If I'm not mistaken the AIP dub of War of the Monsters (think that's the one) is also PD, and I think Alpha is putting it out also.

I've seen several legit PD companies that offered both of these titles on VHS, so I don't think Alpha is violating any copyright laws.
