Something Weird Sampler available again, sorta...

Well, I just got back from the mall and saw the Something Weird Sampler... It is in a box set called Beauties & Beasts, with the Extra Weird Sampler as a bonus 4th disc. Its not just a Border's thing either, they have it at DVD empire (and more than likely, everywhere else for that matter). The movies in the box set are:

Night of the Bloody Apes
The Mighty Gorga and One Million AC/DC
The Beast that Killed Women and The Monster of Camp Sunshine

At Borders today, it was only like $32, which isn't bad. Thought I'd give a head's up!

Word, they probably put all those returned copies from Borders in these boxsets.
On the subject, the 2 Borders in my neck of the woods never sent their Samplers back, did any?

The ones here did. They hadn't even opened the boxes, so they tell me, just shipped em back. The whole reasoning was stupid to begin with. People complained about nudity, its not like there isn't a warning on the disc in the first place. Also, you were only supposed to get a disc if you purchased a Something Weird DVD, well someone who buys a Something Weird Video should pretty much expect nudity on a Something Weird disc... Unless they have their head up their ass or something.

Oh, and people are still selling the samplers on ebay as OOP and Rare at around $20, and the plus side to the box set is each disc is individually wrapped as far as I can tell.

Hey you be quiet about that. I'm trying to get rid of my extra copy, don't need people seeing this now.;) I picked up that set from Borders yesterday. I should've waited because it's only like $27 at DDD, but oh well $8 isn't gonna kill me. It's a good set, Night of the Bloody Apes is a blast. It's the only one I've seen, but the SW stuff is always fun. Plus those poster/ad slide shows are fascinating to watch. I love those. Actually they should've called it Beauties and Apes, all the "Beasts" are just apes anyway.

That's Great news about the Something Weird DVD Sampler!! Thanks for the heads up.

I've been trying to get ahold of this DVD Sampler ever since they stopped giving them out at Borders last year. Now I can finally have it! Plus the Something Weird DVD Set with all of those films on DVD is a great deal, I've been wanting to pick up the DVD of NIGHT OF THE BLOODY APES for some time now, but I never got around to it. Now for an extra $10, I'll be getting the DVD, plus 2 more films, and the Something Weird DVD Sampler!! Great news!!

Dude, thanks alot...I had no idea this box set was available. I will DEFINITELY be picking this up if I can fucking find it. Do you think Suncoast would have this? Last time I dropped in the store was totally void of Something Weird titles...

Suncoast never has Something Weird, except Basket Case I never see any there.

Hey, i just sold one of my extra copies on ebay last week ($15.50 final bid)! I didn't lie to anyone, cuz i didn't know about this boxset at the time. I doubt SW is still making the Sampler discs, these are probaly the same ones returned to em (if there's an expired Borders coupon inside, they are Positively the same disc!). All the copies I snagged at Borders were shrinkwrapped with coupons inside. In any case, I'm sure the disc is OOP and not the easiest to find. Once those boxsets are gone, so will the Samplers!

Thanks bigdaddy! I'm just curious how many box sets are out there... And aince they didn't even bother taking out the expired coupons, I wonder if they work!

They have the coupon in the one in the box set, but it's expired. It says January 31st, 2003. So it's the same coupon from Borders, but the cover of the box set Sampler is slightly different. The original says Borders on the front bottom left corner. Also none of the DVDs in the box set are sealed, so I think they took the ones they got back from Borders, opened them and put a new cover on them withouth the Borders logo.

You'd think if they opened them to swap covers, they could've easily removed the worthless coupons!
