Yeah, the Goblin ones are classic.
I think, though, for all time I would have to go with HALLOWEEN. It is a fantastic soundtrack, and every single track gets replay from me. All John Carpenter's other soundtracks are great too.
Any horror soundtracks by John Carpenter, Goblin, Ennio Morricone, Tangerine Dream, and Giorgio Moroder are all great in my eyes.
Oh, and the PROM NIGHT soundtrack is disco-licious.

Yeah most stuff by Goblin, though Tenebrae + Suspiria stand out for me.
Also Cannibal Holocaust has some fantastic music, very atmospheric and strangely seems ideally suited to the film.

The "argento" euro edit of DOTD has much better soundtrack than the normal US release, which has a bit much disposable cheesy 70's music for me. :)

Two of my favourite soundtracks which I have in my (now ancient) record collection are The Exorcist and The Burning. Both are truly spine chilling soundtracks. Rick Wakeman's music for The Burning is truly terrifying stuff...an electronic nightmare. Highly recommended but, to the best of my knowledge, it's not available on CD, only vinyl.

I love that BODY DOUBLE soundtrack from Pino Donaggio.
On a sidenote: I just watched SILVER BULLET and totally forgot how much that song ("Joyride") at the end sucked :eek2:

Love the Dawn of the Dead Goblin score
I just wish that they would release the cues from the DeWolfe library (ie. everything else besides the goblin stuff in Dawn)
I actually talked to a DeWolfe rep and he said that a couple of different folks had contacted him recently about releasing the soundtrack to Dawn commercially and in both cases the money was too big of a risk for both parties. We closed out the conversation with, "... at least there is hope..."
I have also had contact with a guy recently that has all the DeWolfe cues looked up and listed and he is practically begging a couple of different companies to do it, and laying the idea in their lap for free. At least there are other folks out there that are as desparate for these tracks as I am, so there is hope.

i don't know any entire soundtracks, but i liked the Psycho theme remix used during the credits of Re-Animator and the theme from Night of the Demons.

Well, I'd have to answer with the soundtracks I play the most in the car. Those would be Tenebrae and Sleepless.
The Spider soundtrack with the Kronos Quartet is nice to - but the first two take the crown.

John Carpenter's Village of the Damned soundtrack is awesome!! My favourite horror movie music ever! I listen to it when I write my script. :)

Day of the Dead has rockin' music. I have it on vinyl and listen to it a good few times a month.
As for pure soundtracks I love Return of the Living Dead and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Great assortment of goth, post-punk and new wave.
Argento's Creepers has a great musical score, as well as IRON MAIDEN - so that's an instant winner right there.
Also, good call on The Burning. Probably the most memorable synthesizer score to come from an early '80s slasher.

Hell yeah Nick! I always listen to the final song, "March of the Children" or whatever it is called. Great stuff!

Keith Emerson's "Inferno" (Dario Argento's movie)
and
Pino Donaggio's "The Howling" (Joe Dante)
The first is available on CD. There's a petition for the release of the second.

I have the vinyl albums for Christopher Young's scores for Hellraiser and Hellraiser 2, and the CD for the thriller Jennifer Eight. His music really works for me....very moving pieces.
One "soundtrack" that I was never able to track down was the unused soundtrack to Hellraiser by a group called Coil. Apparently it was really effective and very dark. Anybody ever hear this?

Definately one of the best. I love every second of it.

I have never bought a soundtrack. But the two movies that come to mind with commercial music are Return of the Living Dead and Demons. I also thought Manson did a good job helping out with the music for Resident Evil.

Re-Animator
Zombie
Demons
Halloween
Opera
Faust
Bride of Chucky
Suspiria
Buio Omega
The Beyond
Phenomena
Dawn of the Dead (Goblin)
Day of the Dead
Contamination
...and I guess I should also mention the Goblin score from Hell of the Living Dead, even though it was stolen from three of the movies listed above, but it just seems to work well for this film.

Just ordered this one:

George Romero's Martin is probably my favorite soundtrack ever. I'm also quite partial to Goblin's work, Suspiria being a particular favorite. Fabio Frizzi is also quite good with his outstanding soundtrack for The Beyond. I also can't forget The Wickerman (I'm not quite sure that this should be catagorized as a horror film though). Amazing stuff. There's so many great soundtracks out there.

All great choices by everyone so far... I must especially agree with anything Goblin, The Beyond and The Wicker Man. :)
I also REALLY like the Candyman soundtrack, but I don't own it. This only reminds me that I REALLY need to pick up that CD soon. Hee hee... every time I think of the Candyman soundtrack, I think of Philip Glass in that South Park Xmas episode. "Happy happy happy! Everybody's happy!"
I know this isn't a soundtrack, but it's sorta related 'cause it's a mish-mash of movie music... I've REALLY been diggin' Daemonia's "Live... Or Dead" a LOT.

I have this, it's not the full soundtrack, it's an EP, it's about a half an hour of music and it's very good. It's a lot like Coil's other stuff (check out the album Skattology, amazing dark cover of "Tainted Love"), It took me a while to find it, but once I got a copy I started seeing it a lot. I bought a second one for $1.99 used at a chain store in Boston, so it's out there and fairly cheap. I actually prefer the Christopher Young scores to Coil's though.

Good call OnebyOne, Return of the Living Dead has an excellent soundtrack.
I also like:
Almost any Goblin soundtracks (especially Dawn of the Dead)
I think the Hell of the Living Dead soundtrack is excellent, even if it did re-use music from other movies.
Cannibal Holocaust is an excellent one too.
A lot by Fabio Frizzi, Mainly the Beyond soundtrack.

This guy (http://s1.amazon.com/exec/varzea/ts/exchange-glance/Y03Y4818448Y9980375/qid=1052807254/sr=1-2/102-5150967-6950544) has it for $21.39. You can probably find it for cheaper, except I have no idea where, sorry!
If you like, you can buy it directly from Daemonia.it (http://www.daemonia.it/buy.asp) for 15 euros. Oh shit, cool! When you buy the CD from them, you get a signed poster!
I don't actually have the CD, myself, but I think I'd actually like to buy it when I can. Mine is an MP3 rip... I think high quality, but not CD quality, obviously. :D

Me too. I converted my copy of the LP to CD, and it sounds pretty good, but I'm still aching for a slightly more professional remaster!

Speaking of soundtracks, one of my all time fave tracks on a soundtrack was that Andi Sex Gang track (Quick & The Dead, I think) on the original Phenomena LP. I don't believe that's on the soundtrack CD, nor do I remember it even being in the movie, but goddamn I love that track!

Suspiria is my favorite. That's what made the three disc set so cool.
For Opera, I like the score but not the heavy metal.
I think Phenomena had a pretty good score, its been a while since I watched that one.
Psycho's signature score is nice. And Tubular Bells from the Exorcist used to scare the hell out of me as a kid.
Yeah, Suspiria is definitely my favorite.

I have a ton of faves:
CARRIE
CANNIBAL FEROX
ZOMBIE
DEEP RED
DAWN OF THE DEAD
DRESSED TO KILL
BODY DOUBLE
CITY OF THE LIVING DEAD
THE BEYOND
SUSPIRIA
HALLOWEEN
PSYCHO
Yeah, there were some really great soundtracks. Thankfully, some of them are out on CD (even ZOMBIE is, thankfully Blackest Heart Media released a combo soundtrack CD with ZOMBIE and CANNIBAL FEROX... I'm definitely picking that up sometime!).

I forgot all about The Beyond. And Halloween for that matter. I like a lot of John Carpenter's scores.
I don't remember too much about Carrie except I thought the gym shorts girls wore in the '70's and early '80's were really hot.
And speaking of Carrie, it reminds me a lot of that girl hazing incident from last week.
