Anybody planning on picking this up? (06/10). I have fond memories of the first one and thought part two wasn't bad either.
Never cared for III though.

I remember liking the first one in the series quite a lot. I liked the second one also, but not as much. Never even saw the third one. But for the price that it is coming out for, I am sure that I will be adding this set to my collection.

Thanks a lot for letting me know about this HB! :D

I was thinking about getting it but the movies didn't really sound too interesting other than part 1 plus with everything else that is coming out in the upcoming months i'll have to pass.

Its so mine!!!!!!!!!!!!

How I do recall watching the first film and having a desperate need to run away and live among the prostitutes and rif-raf in Times Square. Ah, the ignorance of youth.

David Boreanaz looks kind of hot as a chick.

I added this to my wish list a couple of months ago when it was announced. The problem is, I seriously doubt this has aged very well. At the time it actually had a bit of edge, but now? I'm afraid it's about as good as a made for TV piece of junk. Am I wrong?

I picked up the cheapo disc of Angel ($5) a while back, and yes, it didn't age well. It was a nice bit of nostalgia, but not a movie I'd care to watch again. I have never seen the sequels.

Thanks! I thought so! Even back then, it was not half as good as it could have been. Twenty years on, goodness only knows what it's like! But - it's a nice idea, I suppose :)

Ah, it's still on my list. Gotta love 80s cheese :)

Can anyone who owns this tell me if this set originally came in a slipcover of any kind? I just got a second-hand copy for an ok price but there was no slip case which it seems like it should be in. Otherwise there's no info about anything on each disc and the spine is just plain white. I'm not too worried about it but was just curious.

Yes, it came with an outer Slip Cover. The foldout digipak is packaged inside of it.

The back of the Slip Cover lists the features for each of the 3 discs, total running time, etc..

Thanks, Katatonia. I should have realized it without asking as I don't have the cover picture featured in the original post. Oh well.

I actually just saw the first one for the first time- I had heard of it as a kid but never seen it. Actually better then I expected- good cheesy, trashy fun with some surprisingly good acting despite the cheese factor. Anyone know if the second one is worth checking out? I heard the third one is awful

the 4th one is worse actually

I love the entire series. If you have a fondness for cheesy goodness, please proceed.
I actually finally got to see the fourth one on Netflix Instant a while back and enjoyed it as well. But, like I said, they're not "good" by any stretch.

I love this movie! I love it when a script takes an inerest in making its side characters fascinating. Taking out the exploitation tropes, there is a film in here about somone with a loving and quirky family-of-choice.

I believe the original Anchor Bay set was 3 DVD-5.
If this collection only has two, maybe itīs a DVD-5 and a DVD-9.
Love the cover better that the one on the Anchor Bay release.

Never bought the original release so this one will do.

Angel III: The Final Chapter has now become Angel III: The Search. I will pick this up. I sold my AB set for big $ a few months ago. I love the first in the series and both sequels have their moments.

I don't have the old set,if this release gets good reviews I may just pick it up.Kinda liked the original and the first sequel wasn't bad either.Don't think I ever saw the third.

I picked up Avenging Angel on VHS just two days before I found and posted the info on the new DVD. That is kind of how I stumbled across it, actually. I only paid $1.99 for it though, so I'm okay with that.

I will be picking up this set no matter what. This is one of those titles that I've always regretted not buying the first time around. With a $14.98 SRP (usually meaning most places will probably have it for around $9.99), this will be a steal.

Looks like it will miss the deleted scenes from the first film.

Please refresh my memory of these. If I recall there were like 2-3 scenes running a bit over a minute or 2 that were nearly unwatchable quailty. Sound about right? Don't care about galleries as I have poster scans already.

If that's all missing, then I'll probably just get the new set too. I was gonna wait and hope to get the original back, assuming the price will drop like a rock with any re-issue. Last time I looked it was well over $100 which should start coming down now.

Angel III: The Search? I don't THINK so! What are they trying to do, update it for modern audiences? I have the old AB set and it's good enough for me. Actually, I may pick up a used copy of the reissue if only because there's a broken spindle on the old set and one of the discs are loose. Otherwise, everything about the old set is just fine. Including the better artwork.

I would have considered this set had they gotten the rights to number four (I'm a completist).
