Since I got my own place I am really looking forward to hanging up my posters. I gave quite a few to my ex but I am gonna hang these: April Fool's Day, Just one of the Guys, Breakin 2 Electric Boogaloo, The Stepfather. If I have more time I'll reframe some of my older ones, but seriously, I really want a Ghoulies poster for the bathroom. You know the one where the Ghoulie is popping out of the toilet. They'll Get you in the End!!

Breakin 3 would totally rule.

I just picked up one of these for my bathroom! Actually it might end up being too big for the bathroom. I wanted to get the 11x17 reprint because it would fit better, but found this original poster for much cheaper. So I'll probably hang it in the house, and most likely get a Ghoulies 2 reprint for the shitter.

I really need to dig around and see if any of the old poster I had are still with us. My nan has always worked in a cinema. So I used to get the quad posters whenever I wanted. The only one I know survived to this day, and a move, is a Scream one.
Recently I won a House of the Dead quad, and am getting a (UK release) Casshern quad with it. And I'm bidding on some other stuff, so it's definately going to be a growing collection.
Got a couple of flyers from Japan for Survive Style 5+, Battle Royale II and Hazard City.
And, the posters which came with the DVD's for Zombi 2 and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.

The Beastmaster I know 100% is original, but I don't think the Foxy Brown one is, I think it may be a re-print as it's not folded. But it also shows no signs, other then that fact, of being a reprint.

I ordered those TCM and Dawn posters from a guy on ebay a couple days ago. Can't wait for 'em to show up.
Also picked up The Lost Boys and Army of Darkness, all reprints. I don't mind people only wanting originals, but it just doesn't matter to me, so I go with the cheaper ones. I'm thinking I need a Ghoulies poster from part 1, though, especially to go with my Ghoulies II inflatable toilet that Vestron sent to video stores for it's video release back in the day. What a great day it was when I snagged up one of those new on ebay. Pretty much every Ghoulies fan I know bought every one that guy had, I doubt they'll ever turn up again. What I really wanna know is how the hell the guy had some extras lying around in the first place?

None at the moment. I'm afraid I'd go overboard and start impulsively buying way more than I could ever find the wall space to hang :(. I also said earlier in this thread or in the past, which still holds true, is that poster frames are extremely expensive to regularly purchase at around $20 per poster or more.
Some of the collections are great. Nightbreed, I'm amazed you found a "mint" looking Dollman poster. :)

A while back, I did some contract work for a company called Swank that distributed movies to cruises and colleges and the like. A guy in their shipping department and I got along really well and he would load me up with movie posters every time I visited there. As such, I've got a few hundred posters. Amongst the favorites are an early poster for Batman Returns that, allegedly, was deemed to ugly by the marketing team and never sent to theatres and an early lightbox poster for Silence of the Lambs with Anthony Hopkins instead of Jodie Foster that was also, supposedly, never sent to theatres.
Other higlights:
Evil Dead 2
Army of Darkness
Parents (on of my favorite movies)
American Werewolf in London
It Came from Outer Space
The Thing (Carpenter)
Videodrome
And bunch of Lightbox posters for Disney films
One thing I have always wondered is how you determine if these are original posters or re-prints?

MovieGoods (http://www.moviegoods.com/movie_product.asp?master%5Fmovie%5Fid=12416) has an original Halloween II poster, but it goes for $200. No way am I paying that much for a poster. Especially when it...
may have multiple holes or small tears on the border, each tear measuring up to no more than one inch
may have some minor fading of artwork
may have some separation of artwork along fold lines
may have minute writing, stains, marks or tape on border
I'm going to pay $30 and get a brand new reproduction. (http://www.moviegoods.com/movie_product.asp?sku=258044&dept%5Fid=12416&master%5Fmovie%5Fid=12416&mscssid=DFAVW1KT33GP8P67JPDCUJBB2WXMFBEF) :D Much more reasonable for my budget.

Oh, I forgot to post mine here. I'd post pics if I had any... next time! I now own two Troll 2 posters autographed by five actors each.

I have too many vintage posters now, I basically have nowhere to put them. Here's a list of some of the more notable horror originals I've got:
Friday the 13th - All the Paramount originals, including the banned I <3 NY teaser.
They Came From Within
The Fury
When a Stranger Calls
The Thing
The Town That Dreaded Sundown
Terror Train
Prom Night
Halloween 4
Critters 2
Season of the Witch ("Hungry Wives" :eek2: )
Happy Birthday to Me
Madman
My Bloody Valentine
I've got dozens more, but they're all in a box collecting dust. My most notable one right now is an original L'avventura poster that set me back over $300. It costs that much to be pretentious.

Yeah I have the same problem. I'm moving in September, then I'll have room to put up some of my posters. So far I got:
Friday the 13th (original insert, original Japanese poster)
Friday the 13th, Part 2 (original insert)
Friday the 13th, Part 3 (original insert)
Happy Birthday to Me (original insert)
Terror Train (original insert)
Prom Night (original insert)
April Fool's Day (original US 1-sheet)
The Shining (original insert)
The Burning (original US 1-sheet)
Jaws (original insert)
Jaws 3 (original Australian 1-sheet. Says 'Jaws 3', not 'Jaws 3-D')
Still wanna get originals for Fright Night, The Fog, Jaws 2 (the advance poster) and Halloween. Then...from there I'll probably be finished collecting. But then again, probably not.

I recently got in a whole big batch of Turkish posters again... Omen 1 and 2... Fury... Friday the 13th part 7 (NICE!!)... others... I will try to get pics of them up...
I have the Turkish Omen 1 poster, I love it. Turkish posters had some of the coolest art on them, second to Polish posters, IMO.

Friday the 13th: Jason Takes Manhattan
Amityvilly II: The Possession
Poltergeist III
Goodfellas
All are original one sheets. Goodfellas might be a repress, but that's fine with me. There's been so many that I've seen that I contemplating purchasing but didn't cause I didn't want to clutter up my walls in my place.

A great source to look for stuff like Phantasm is the LAMP (Learn About Movie Posters) website...
http://learnaboutmovieposters.com/
It is a network of poster dealers...most of them are over priced beyond belief, but there are a few great dealers with the occasional jem. I really like kino art...this is a German dealer with a ton of posters from pretty much everywhere in the world. His prices are generally pretty fair and he cuts you a deal when you buy multiple items. Another dealer on the site worth checking out is posteroplis. He has mostly US posters, again with the occasional great deal. I was able to get a one sheet for Hitchcock's Family Plot for $10 from here.
Another site with good prices and selection is The Nostalgia Factory. I picked up original Rock and Roll High School, Empire Strikes Back, and Texas Chainsaw Massacre posters from them at great prices. They are located here in Boston, and have alot of stuff. The one thing you kind of need to beware of with them is their condition grading. Most of the time it is fine...but I have gotten an item or two from them that was in slightly lesser condition than they advertised.

Thanks for the sugestions eric_angelus, I don't see any Phantasm's at the moment, but I'll keep an eye on those sites.
Also, anyone ever bought anything from Hi-Rez Designs (http://stores.ebay.com/Hi-Rez-Designs_W0QQ_trksidZp284Q2em158QQtZkm)? I just want to know if their reprints are as good as they say they are, because if they are I may get some to hang up until I can get the originals at a decent price. They seem pretty good, and they reprint really hard to find stuff full sized (27 x 41), like the Dawn of the Dead poster with green lettering, and the international version of the Blade runner poster.

Wow, you got The Burning, Friday the 13th, The Thing, and House By The Cemetery for roughly 15$ each? Man you're lucky. I never see any of those go for less than 40$ on ebay, especially The Thing.
Wish I could get that lucky. The only time I got really lucky on ebay was when I got my Texas Chainsaw Massacre one sheet for about 20$, and it was signed by Edwin Neal, which I didn't know until the poster came in. That was pretty cool.

plus an original black and white Mother's Day print, which was used to photograph the old drive-in ads for the newspaper.
In addition, a mini-poster of Planet Terror and one of Death Proof from Blockbuster, both to coincide with the Grindhouse DVD release, a self-made Goonies collage incorporating original poster art/still photos, and an original Back To The Future LP I scored for $1.00 at a used bookstore.

Awesome, Lone Wolf.. cool to see another one with this art.Mine arrived with a bent tube, making the poster appear somewhat like it'd gone a round with a gorilla in its cage-and lost.I say, adds more Grind House-style appeal to a pretty sleazy gem. I got it off eBay and haven't received it yet. But if I'm doing the conversion correctly, it's 18.7 x 27 inches. That would make it about half the size of a standard US poster.

So i have recently started collecting original movie posters. There are a couple I am looking at right now, but am a little confused. Anyone know if any of these posters came folded or rolled, as I seem to see both being sold? I have read that posters were folded up until 1988 (or is it 1985?), but that there were also a few exceptions.
Friday the 13th Part 6 Jason Lives

It's more like '84/'85 when posters started getting rolled. Your Friday the 13th Part 6 could have easily been issued rolled. I have an original Part 4 - Final Chapter and it was rolled (1984). I would say the only one that you have that should have been folder would be Poltergeist, but then again it's possible it was just never shipped out anywhere - who knows.

Thanks. I usually go all out the first week or two when I first get into something, and then slow down. I'm looking at a couple more, but then I think I will chill out, and wait until I can afford the big boys like Halloween, Friday the 13th, or original Star Was posters. It seems like those pretty much start at $100, although I think I saw a Friday the 13th go for $60 the other day. Oh, and I want a Monster Squad original as well!

Me, too. I love it. I bought a MAUSOLEUM one sheet on Ebay back in '98 (along with NIGHTMARE since my previous one was tattered and separating at the folds) and was shocked when they arrived in mint, condition. The same seller sold me a THE THING ('82) one sheet and THE FOG (Jamie Lee art) for only $10 each and they, too, were in mint condition. *sigh* I wonder if you can still buy those posters for such a cheap price today?
I remember seeing the "green lettering" DAWN OF THE DEAD sell for $80 back in '99. Those days are over, I know ;)

This is pretty much my first poster, so my question to you folks is what is the best way of preserving it? It's already kind of beaten. Cheap Ikea frames - mounting?
I think it's a 18" X 26" ...which is kind of a weird size.

Sorry about the pictures not being so great, I took them with my old camera awhile back, I have alot more, I just haven't dug them all out yet. I have the original Evil Dead 1st one sheet rolled, the original Texas Chainsaw 1 & 2 1 sheet rolled, Original Black Roses 1 sheet rolled. About 40 more that aren't pictured, but my favorites from this are of course my original Evil Dead 2, Trick Or Treat UK, and my Return Of The Living Dead Part II Australian. And if you notice the Evil Dead 2 German poster, and that "Ceiling Dweller" as I like to call it hangs above my bad, It's really awesome, and it's huge. I've had people ask me if they could buy that thing for like $100 before and I said hell no lol. It's one of those things that use to hang in theaters back in the day.

It's Return Of The Living Dead 2 Aust. Yeah I love that one, I won't hang it up until I get a frame for it, I hate pinholes in my posters, that one is really cool, I think the French version is the same as the Aust. version, I saw one on ebay for outrageous once, but I haven't seen another Aust. version in awhile. I bought mine back forever ago, 2001 or 2002 for somewhere around $50 with shipping. the Evil Dead 2 original "Full Skull" version as it's been called before was expensive. Can't remember how much exactly but it wasn't cheap.

Hey Sean. I can't vouch that this is an original but I know this poster was available as a giveaway promo back when the film came out. I got mine at the San Diego Comic Convention. They laid hundreds of them out on tables as freebies. Hope this information helps.

Anything that is not 27"x41" I'm never sure of it's authenticity. However, that seller, "Movieposterpalace" is very legit - I've bought stuff from him in the past.
If you're interested in that poster I see this dood is selling it for cheaper. He says it was used for promos in record shops and such.

He's selling the original full size for much cheaper than anyone else. I would ask him if there's any rips/tears/tape markings. He says no pin holes, which is good and the pic of it doesn't look too bad either. I'd also ask him if it says "Return of the Living Dead" in the lower left corner and if it has any NSS number on the lower right. I'm looking at original and I can see something on the lower right, but can't make it out.

Awesome collection! I have a few of them, and the ones I don't have I would definitely want. Are all those originals, including Phenomena and House by the Cemetery? If so, very nice!
Yes they are and thanks.

Anyway, after the initial shock, it occurred to me it was probably silverfish that did it. Or silverdicks as I now call them.

I need some help from some poster gurus here.I recent started buying one sheets and all I know is 27x41 and folded is good.Ive been getting these posters from a guy in my area and so far they all have been 27x41 and folded besides two new ones I got.Heres the story about the Dawn of the dead one sheet.
He told me that when they originally pressed the Dawn posters they didnt know if the movie was going to do so good so they ran out of posters. They also lost the plates to print the posters and to make this run of posters they had to use two folders, one folded(the top) and one that wasnt folded(the bottom) The top has "printed folds" and they stop at just about the credits.I only got the poster for 10 bucks so Its not so bad if its a fake but it would suck that I was decieved. Now the second poster is a Creepshow 2 "video" poster,it was rolled and looks great, instead of having "New World Pictures" it has New World Video. Can any of you guys share some insight on this poster as well.Im not interested in the money value as much as im interested in are these posters rare and real.My 3rd poster im getting soon is a original My Bloody Valentine and its a rolled poster,I have heard about some one sheets from the early 80's being rolled and they were super rare.He wants 25 for that.I have no reason not to belive the guy because I dont think he has decived me yet.Help me out guys.
The Dawn posters are 1 and 2 and the Creepshow 2 poster is 3.

To me, those both look like reprints. The Dawn poster is definitely a reprint, as if it was legit it would have an NSS number on the bottom right corner. Check out Matt's post in another thread that will give you most of the info you will need to identify an original from a reprint or bootleg poster: http://www.horrordvds.com/vb3forum/showpost.php?p=543047&postcount=10

I checked the seller out on ebay. Looks to be a trustworthy seller as far as getting you products. From looking through a few of the auctions, they seem to be legit, although I still can't see any NSS numbers in the bottom right corners, could be that the pictures are too small that I just can't see them. What I would do though is before bidding just send him a message to confirm on the posters you're interested in if they have an NSS number on the bottom right corner. If so, they are legit. If not, they're probably bootlegs made to look like originals.

I've looked at many advertising materials for the movie Blood Feast however everything that I've seen for this title (lobby cards, one sheets, half sheets, stills) is not consistent with the guidelines and links MorallySound posted and I was wondering if anyone could comment on this particular title. Most of the stuff I've seen doesn't say anything on the bottom but some things say either "Litho U.S.A." (Blood Feast one sheet) or "PRINTED IN USA" (Blood Feast 1/2 sheet, Two Thousand Maniacs! one sheet, and ONE of the Blood Feast lobby cards (all the rest say nothing...)), perhaps these were not printed by NSS? I will admit that I'm not a big collector of this sort of thing (partly because I don't think I'm knowledgeable enough to do things like spot fakes unless they're really obvious...) and I'm sure it's possible that everything I've seen has been fake (I have seen a lot of materials, several of the same ones from different people and dealers, all have been consistent with the markings on the bottom, iirc.). Before reading this thread and the links I had no reason to assume they were fake though. I've done some searching on my own however online information for this particular title seems to be nonexistent and no one I've talked to knows for sure about this one. Any info would be appreciated!

From what I've heard, not all originals (from that era) will be folded or have an NSS number, so it can be hard to find out if it's fake or not. I usually see what other reviews have said about the seller.

That dood has hooked me up in the past, but my confusion is that you said he sold it to you for $10? No one is selling a Dawn of Dead original 1 sheet for $10. Also, it just looks too shiny new, but it's hard to tell from a picture. Maybe there is some truth to what he's saying, but he might just be wording it in such a way that's it's confusing.

Interesting. I wonder where you got'em from, may I so kindly ask? Also I agree, as it's just paper, so when I order some online this year, a lot of the fine re-prints will do, quite honestly. I simply don't have the money to own a lot of them. It's like the fine Shape (Myers) masks and fiberglass hockey masks out there on websites: A ton of fine talent in making them, but I'm sorry, I just don't have the bread at this point in my life to shell out over $250 a piece of them, plus S&H when ordering online from 3rd party sellers on Amazon eats up just the right amount as it is.
Great/fine point, though I suppose if ya got the bread, go a head and order, but I wouldn't pay over $15 for a poster, as they're all just easily damaged sheets of paper anyhow. Just my own personal beliefs ...
Do you guys frame and hang them on your walls with all your rare posters or just collect them?

Framing posters (one sheets) is pretty expensive! I do have a Blood Feast one sheet framed but the framing cost me more than I paid for the poster! It was worth it since they say what I got will preserve and protect it however there are few posters out there that I would even consider doing this with just because of their cost compared to the cost of professional framing and matting. I know there are much cheaper options but if I don't get all archival material, matting with preservation mount, UV plexiglass, etc... I feel like I'm going to ruin whatever I'm displaying and they sit in whatever, hopefully archival, packaging I got them in instead.
I've been wanting to look into how much the same treatment would run me for something much smaller such as a lobby card or locandina poster but haven't gotten around to it.

Sounds about right for TCM. I'm surprised you had to get Happy Birthday to Me for so much. I got mine on eBay a year or so ago for like $8.
I try not to spend too much for movie posters, but sometimes you gotta splurge a little if you really want it. Most of my posters I've gotten from anywhere from $5 to $20. I think I paid $25 for the Mutilator, but also got the alternate title "Fall Break" for free. I paid $70 for an original Friday the 13th in excellent condition, and $80 for Silent Night, Deadly Night (Rare Style A) in mint condition.
I have hung most my posters, but there are few still folded in a closet .
Framing is very expensive if done right, but luckily I have a friend in the business that hooks me up for free most the time. Archival matting under glass (sometimes UV protected) with a simple thin black metal frame.

I bought a bunch of original one sheets last year, but haven't put any of them up yet, as yes, framing is quite expensive and costs more then the posters themselves. That being said, I would rather wait and do it right, so I don't ruin the posters. That ,and if/when I get more expensive ones, I can switch them up and have the expensive ones in nice frames.
As for cost, I paid about $10 for most of them, although a few of them were a little more. I think the most I paid though was like $30, probably for one of the Friday the 13th ones or something. April Fool's day I got for $10.

Just got this Spanish GhostHouse poster the other day. I'd been eyeing it for a while and finally broke down. I think this is some of my favorite horror poster art! Pretty entertaining movie too!

Does anyone else find it strange that the original theatrical 1 Sheets for Friday the 13th Parts 2, 4, and 5 are so plain looking? I used to think that the original VHS art (the silhouette of the killer holding the bloody axe for part 2, the hockey mask lying in the pool of blood with the knife through the eyehole for part 4, and the stupid looking hockey mask with the square holes for part 5) was the original 1 Sheet art. Isn't the artwork the most important selling point of a movie poster? With Fridays 2, 4, and 5, there is no artwork - just a solid black background with the title and a few captions in the foreground.

I have always hated those posters. For Parts 2 and 4 I bought overseas versions instead. I have the Part 2 Australian One Sheet...which does have the VHS art...as well as Amy Steel wielding the pitchfork. For Part 4 I have the British Quad, which in black and white but features the hockey mask art. I have the boring Part 5 poster with just text. I always like the original newspaper ad art for the film...which I think was used on at least one international poster.

I saw the question of where I find my 1-sheets so cheap and hate to give out my secret sources but there are a few conventions that most people DON'T go to that I get the best deals. Most of them come from old geezers with box loads of them and I usually pick them up super cheap in the $2-$5 range. I picked up stuff like Dr.Butcher,Maniac,Slumber Party Massacre,Scalps,The Mutilator,The Forest,Bigfoot and many others all under the $5 price range. There are several non horror cons that have these people at them for low prices. Mostly they are people in their 60s or so who owned theatres or whatehaveyou and come into cons with boxes of stuff priced to go.
I now have over 2000 posters most of which I paid under $5 each for thanks to a couple non horror conventions.

Yes! Back when they came out, after seeing the newspaper ad, I couldn't wait to go the drive-in flea market to see the posters. Very disappointed to see Part 2's plain poster. Same for Part 4! I have a feeling Paramount was trying to avoid some sort of outcry.
I did manage to score a New York City poster with complete art and NYC theaters listed at the bottom...but this was YEARS after the fact.

I also have a few newer double-sided originals and vinyl banners that I got when I was working at a theater, but nothing too great.
I get most of my horror reprints from moviegoods.com on ebay. Does anyone have any online stores they recommend for finding horror posters? Moviegoods' selection is great, but they can be a little pricey and some of the prints are far from perfect.

I've never seen that Ms. 45 poster either, that's great. Shame they don't use that on the DVD...I love the high concept minimalism of most eighties low budget genre stuff.

You can try HiRez Designs. They sell on Ebay and even though they are a bit pricey to, the do take offers on their stuff so you can work out a deal on multiple items. Just an alternative to MG

Picked this one up this weekend, great poster for a not so great movie! I love how similar the guy at the top is to the guy on a lot of the artwork for Fulci's The House by the Cemetery, it's like they just put a different knife in his hand...

My latest additions: original 1 sheets for "Halloween II" and "Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers."
I'm having a tough time finding an original Halloween 4. There's only one on ebay right now and the guy wants $235.00 for it. No way am I paying that highway robbery. Halloween II only cost me $35.00 (I've seen it go as high as $200.00) and Halloween 5 only $25.00 (I've seen as high as $100.00)

Yeah, I have been looking for a Halloween 4 theatrical for years. I have never seen one at a decent price. A friend of mine who is always good at getting hard to find posters managed to find one for himself a year or two ago. I have had him on the lookout for one for me since. I have two video posters (one UK and one US which has signatures on it now), so I would have to find it pretty cheap to bite at this point.

Just added 3 more to my small collection...
a Ex-yugoslav poster of "Blood Beach" which I bought to get signed by John Saxon, but it never arrived in time.
a Japanese "Battle Beyond the Stars" which I bought so I could get Saxon to sign it.
and an Italian copy of "Lo Spettro" (The Ghost) that features Barbara Steele. (I hope to have her sign it at the next convention)
Here is a link to a copy of the poster, pretty nice looking one I must say. This shot looks more like a repo based on the color of the paper, mine is a light creme color but still looks brilliant.

I picked up Two Original One Sheet Posters at a Video Store going out of business a couple of weeks ago. I picked up:
Trancers II(Great Poster with Tim Thomerson, Helen Hunt, and Megan Ward!!)
Terror In Paradise(A New Horizons Movie!!)
I was looking for Witchboard 2: The Devil's Doorway, and Ticks but I couldn't find them. He had a ton of Posters though and he said he would be selling the rest of them at a Flea Market not too far from here. I may check it out. I would love to get some of the Original Friday, Nightmare, and Halloween Posters!!

You know, I've been noticing this happening more and more lately. I've been looking on ebay for posters again recently and just about everything I look for is way over priced. I find it especially funny when theres more than one listing for it. For Example I looked up Prom Night, and one guy wants like $600 as the buy it now price, while another guy wants $9.99, and they are both original folded one sheets. Some people don't seem to realize that people don't have hundreds of dollars to spend on paper I guess.

Nice finds, and at pretty short money compared to many that sell on GreedBay. That Mutilator is nice, to bad about the edges, I would have it matted and framed, that way you can bring the mat to the image edge and hide the tears along the white border.
Here are a few I just won myself...
