View Full Version : Easter Eggs
While skimming through a different horror website (I won't devulge the name), I read through reviews for both Nekromantik and Guinea Pig's Flower of Flesh & Blood. This website mentioned "Easter Eggs" in the supplement section. Essentially both films have more extras than what's listed. I was completely unaware that DVDs did this (perhaps I don't completely investigate my DVDs as I should). I wondered if others in this forum were handy with their DVD remote and found "Easter Eggs" in other DVDs. Just curious.
I'll be sure to find Flower's "Egg" this evening.

There are some great Easter Eggs on some discs. There are a number of sites (and even a book I found in a bookstore) that tell you what kind of eggs they are and how to locate them. SOme are relatively easy to find, others are very difficult. But if you check one of those sites, it becomes very easy. :D

www.dvdeastereggs.com has a pretty good list to choose from.
There's also a good (almost identical, but somewhat different) list on www.dvdreview.com
Just check the "hidden features" section.
Enjoy!

i generally dont bother with easter eggs.. i figure if theyre gonna hide it its probably not worth watching/seeing/finding anyway... otherwise they woulda listed it on the dvd and made it easily accessible...
most of them are just dvd credits and stuff anyway

Yeah your right. Some of them are good. Others: blech. I hate the little "wow you found the easter egg" chat from the director or cast (as seen on BRING IT ON or AMERICAN PIE 2)....wow, they sucked.

I like the one on Mallrats where Kevin Smith yells at you for looking for Easter Eggs on DVDs "God almighty! Get out there. Live. Smell the air. Sniff a dog..." That pretty much sums up my feelings on Easter Eggs.

the easter egg on the Wicker Man (R1 AB) release is pretty cool. i can see why it's included as an easter (quality is very poor, from a highly generated tape, but the interview is pretty interesting).
the easter egg on Flower of Flesh and Blood is quite interesting. the quality of that reminded me of what my old bootleg tape looked like. it's amazing comparing that, to the remastered version on the dvd.

I hate a lot of the eggs that are on bare bones disks. if its a crappy disk, ususally it's a crappy egg. The T2 eggs were cool. But how many versions of T2 do you need?

I tried to open the easter egg on Flower but couldn't. Apparently one has to highlight the lips on the screen (but I'm still not able to do it).
Some help please.......
Thanks to bigdaddyhorse for the easter egg website info.
I've already discovered that, yeah, some easter eggs are not worth your time (i.e. the added short interview with Udo Kier on Suspiria.....nothing special).

We just kept going because we were drunk and recorded a whole other commentary that we put on the disc as a goof.

to access the egg on Flower of Flesh and Blood, at the main menu, select "flower of flesh and blood" and hit ENTER. this will take you to another screen that says "play", "chapters" and has like a small leaf (which, if you click on it, takes you back to the main menu). highlight the leaf, then, press DOWN using your directional keys on your remote, and you should see a red circle-like highlighting the lip on the screen. now press Enter.
