There was a thread that already covered all this. It had the covers for all of MGM's August releases if i remember correctly. Maybe I, Madman's correct ration was 1.33:1.

See, MGM does it again! P & s! Sheesh! I wished Anchor Bay gotten a hold of this, I remember someone bringing this to their attention in one of their chats, this is godawful!

Fullframe doesn't mean p+s. It should be an open-matte transfer, which is something I actually prefer with academy ratio films.

First off, what is your avatuar from? I swear I've seen it before...I don't think that MGM cares about what screen size they release unless it's something of name value. They seem to sneek a lot of dvds out. They released FATAL INSTINCT in "standard" but I feel that they could have had it in widescreen since the deleted scenes and trailer was. That's just poor right there. But props on using the poster art and not the video cover!

A friend of mine e-mailed MGM and they confirmed to him that the early specs are wrong. I, Madman will be 16x9 1:85 widescreen.

And yes, Clownhouse is still cancelled.

Some people really do need to get it into their heads that 4:3 does not automatically mean P&S. It's knee-yerk reactions like this that got us EVIL DEAD matted! Sheesh!

As for MGM, well, every company I can think of has screwed up on a ratio at somepoint, so why single MGM out for the odd feau-par like PUMPKINHEAD? Look at what they give us; cheap double bills, very good transfers in most cases, uncut prints sometimes, very good extras when they're included and so on. Out of all the hollywood studio labels, they're by far the horror fan's best friend.
Your attack on MGM really doesn't stand up.

Not yet. I'm trying to find out the reason they've put it on hold. I'll let you guys know if/when I find out something.

You need more titles than PUMPKINHEAD? ok then, cut version of DERANGED, pan and scan versions of really shot wide widescreen panavision films like SUMMER LOVERS, BANK SHOT, GATOR, WHITE LIGHTNING, as well pan and scan versions of REMO WILLIAMS, REVENGE OF THE NINJA, JOHNNY B GO0OD, BRIGHT LIGHTS BIG CITY, LIVING LARGE, BASIC TRAINING, EYE FOR AN EYE, RAGE OF HONOR, EVE OF DESTRUCTION, CATCH THE HEAT, I know most arent horror but come on, any other DVD mess up worse than this?

I listed PUMPKINHEAD as an example. I didn't think it was really necessary to go into a long list. So no, I don't need more titles, thanks. I have better things to concern myself with.

I take it that you know for sure that all of those are P&S then? That they aren't open-matte or OAR 1.33:1? You were wrong about I MADMAN after all, which is open-matte in 4:3.

Another two for you: 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang', which is p&s. 'The Masque Of The Red Death' which is the original MPAA cut theatrical print. That'll make you happy to add another pair to your list, I guess.

...And Artisan mess up much worse than MGM. Anchor Bay fuck up a heck of a lot as well, but I guess that you're one of those types who lets them off becuase they release a lot of obsucure horror titles. Criterion often do very bad transfers, but they get fogiven all the time as well, which I don't get at all. At least MGM don;t charge stupid prices for their disasterous disks; just look at 'Blood For Dracula'.
