From Fangoria:

According to the Los Angeles Times, Fox Searchlight will be adding an alternate ending to all in-release prints of 28 DAYS LATER as of next Friday, July 25. This more downbeat conclusion was initially tested with preview audiences by director Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, but when they responded unfavorably, the current closer was filmed and utilized on all release prints. The original conclusion has been available on DAYS’ British DVD, and will be attached after the closing credits of the American prints. While theatrical rereleases and countless DVDs have contained alternate footage, this may be the first time such an addition has been made to a movie midway through its run.

the 3rd ending is of the two girls bringing him to a hospital

I'm worried if it'll still be in theaters here by then. That'd be cool though.

It definitely will be, it's doing quite well for itself and it's only one more week. Esp. with something like that, that'll probably be hyped in new commercials.... I'm going!

I still dont see the point of this tho. I mean I'm not going to go lay down another 7 bucks for it.

The point of this is MONEY. Ain't it always? Tack on a new ending mid-way through the film's run and everyone will pay to see the movie twice. Neat trick.:bs:

Cool this gives me even more incentive to go see it again.

I had wanted to go see it again anyway because I like to support films I enjoy a lot... plus, if I go to a matinee it's only $4, so what do I care? :)

This is good news to me! I saw the movie and absolutely loved it. I even liked the ending, and thought the nearly subliminal "HELL" in the top left corner around the time the guy is dreaming at the very end was a nice touch. I didn't know what to think of it at first, but as the woman was sewing the O which had not been unfurled yet, it all became very clear to me. I actually thought the movie would end on a downer and was prepared for that! The movie, as a whole, was rather unrelenting and because of that, the ending sort of caught me off guard. I'd like to see how these other endings work, though I'm not sure I have another $20 or so to spare to see it again and find out just yet. :D

I guess I'll be waiting for the DVD to see that alternate ending. :p

If it's the alternative ending included on the Uk release, it's lame. It is EXACTLY the same, without the guy - that is it.

would it have been too difficult to include a blue spoiler cover?

Spoiler? It's the SAME ENDING. If you've seen the film - you've seen the "alternative" ending. Paying to see this for the alternative ending, and then finding it's the same would be a major disapointment.

Regardless, the ending is already out there on DVD (which is how I saw it.)

You're such a twat landrvr. :)
