Does anyone know when Shriek Show will replace those two discs due to misframing?

Hitcher in the Dark is not misframed and therefore will not be replaced.

Picture information is almost always missing in 1.85:1 films as compared to "full frame" versions. That's how 1.85:1 films are made: the top and bottom of the frame are supposed to be covered up. It's nothing incorrect or unusual. The people trashing Shriek Show's Hitcher in the Dark transfer are either misrepresenting the truth because they dislike Shriek Show (the most likely scenario) or because they don't understand how 1.85:1 films are made.

Note that the screenshot of the Shriek Show disc in that comparison is distorted. The screenshot is 200x133 pxiels, which is a ratio of about 1.5:1. The screenshot should be shown at the proper aspect ratio of the disc, which is 1.78:1. Duh. No wonder why they claim the SS disc is "squeezed."

I modified their screenshot to its correct proportions. Maintaining the same height, I changed the width to 237 pixels, giving the screenshot a proper AR of about 1.78:1. See for yourself:

Surprise, suprise. It suddenly doesn't look "squeezed" anymore. Midnight Video either lied on purpose or they're just clueless. Either way, their opinion isn't of much value. It's a shame that so many people just accept their opinion at face value and spread their misinformation.

With all the screwy discs that SS has released its not hard at all to believe it.

Great info.

I didn't know anything about the replacement of WEREWOLF WOMAN, I am one of the people who have that disc and wouldn't mind seeing it properly framed, although I doubt that would change my opinion of it.

So HITCHER isn't misframed eh? Maybe I'll pick it up then, the whole reason I didn't get it was becasue of the framing issue.

As I said in my lost HITCHER thread, even if it is misframed it's hardly noticable. Get it for the movie!

Thanks guys for the info. I'm glad I don't have to send my hitcher in the dark disc back then. I also read the midnight review so I thought that it was improper framing.

Do you know when they will accept the misframed versions of werewolf woman though?
